  1. Cold, dull and damp here this morning with the mist rolling in off the sea No work today again then. Bl**dy weather
  2. The 2 that I picked up at the Royal Highland Show came in the standard red Britains boxes with the number 42301 on the end flaps. I was surprised about that when I bought them. I thought New Holland would have had these new models their own dealer issue blue boxes since they have the exclusive marketing and sales for the first few months of the release. Fantastic in cab detail including the colour coded levers and the steering wheel has the fast steer activating ring on it. A 10 out of 10 there but minus 10 for the rear lift though Auto drop as standard
  3. The last time I went to a H.S.E. "come and visit us before we visit your place" days the guy who was going on about quad bike safety did recommend using gloves and a suitable helmet, open front type rather than full face visor job so you could still have some side vision and be able to hear as he told us that an unseen charging bull knocked a man off his quad when he wore a full face helmet 'cos he didn't see or hear it coming at him from the side On the power lines I was working carting silage on two different places this summer where the wires between buildings were so low you had to make sure the trailers were fully lowered before leaving the pit area or you would catch in them They should have been raised up on taller poles or better still buried underground instead, they might have been alright at that height 40 years ago but not today with the bigger machinery that is used in modern farming

I remember a few years ago down where I used to live there was a young guy electrocuted when he climbed up onto the top of his combine from the cab to walk over the grain tank back to the engine bay to check the oil and press in the excess fuel button for a cold start. He had not noticed that he parked up under low wires the night before. All this was to save taking down the access ladder at the back and save time. He was also the farmers only son which made it even worse for the family.
  5. The Ford version was loader arms removable only. which left the sub frame and tall upright pillars in front of cab the and rams in place after disconecting them from the loader arms. The Steelfab / Horndraulic 680 model was a drive in and came off and only left the two low pillars of the subframe in front of cab which the loader arms and a round the tractor support bracket fitted to when you drove into it and it self latched by spring loaded pins. It had a spigot and pin fitting system at the front bolster casting which incorporated the grille guard. Hope this helps you

  8. Very smart conversion, does look like the old Steelfab Horndraulic / Ford loader of the 70's early 80's. How did you get the open doors effect on cab ?
  9. Very nice work there it's a pity that Britains can't make models as well finished and accurate as your conversions. Looks a beauty Deerepower. You just need to reuse the 5000's original bonnet air intake to make it perfect now as that would be the correct one to use

Got a call to go and wrap some silage today On the way there just a few miles from being there the phone rang and this was the baler man saying the baler had broken down and there were only 5 bales made to wrap. Got there and the mechanic who was there working on the baler said it wasn't going to work again today as it needed to go back to the dealers workshop for major surgery. The top rollers bearings were shot and the tail door needs to be removed to replace the bearings. It's a Claas 255 rotocut for those interested A 40 mile + round trip for 5 bl**dy bales Then my broadband went off, just as I was about to post this up last night which is why it only went up this morning

Bright and sunny here again this morning Even had a call to be ready to go wrapping later on ( if ground is dry enough though, depends on how large the tracks the tractor tyres are making ) But after Saturday night and all day rain on Sunday it doesn't look too optimistic.. Ground conditions are less than good, next big problem will be the harvest starting soon and some people are still trying to make hay and silage up here

  13. You can try DMB models over here for these models. I bought the tracked harvester and the forwarder from the for 65 pounds each earlier this year. The fine detail is out of this world on these models. Try www.dmbmodels.co.uk for more info
  14. It's a beautiful sunny day up here in the far North of the country. Been warm and bright since early morning my 3 old collies are out sunning themselves on the patio, Might dig out a chair and go join them while it's nice and watch all the helicopters flying in and out of the airport . Down side though was it poured all Saturday night and all Sunday so things are a bit wet under foot

I recall seeing prototype AP and LP cab version pictures or artists impressions of the 7810 in the Ford story part 2 and something was said about using the old 8x2 non synchromesh for export market models. I can't comfirm this as my book is somewhere in the loft at the moment and I can't gain access to loft with my cracked ribs as it involves pulling yourself up into loft as ladder is too short Can anyone else find their copy to confirm this ?
  16. The famous 7810 accounted for nearly 25% of all Ford series 10 range sales at one point. That was what it said in the Stuart Gibbard book the Ford story part 2. And Ford were not keen on developing a 6 cylinder model themselves at the time S.E.M. put the idea to them.
  17. Never heard of a version with an "M" after the 4610 but there was a yellow 4610 H made for highways use. There was also a 4610 T which was a turbo conversion made by S.E.M. ltd if I remember correctly
  18. That's a very unusual folding cutterbar on the Claas Lexion 530. Never seen one that folds that way before Lely had a table that folded vertically many years ago but never seen the forward folding type before. Would be real fun coming out a blind gateway with this outfit without a guide to let you know if anything was coming

A very nice selection of pictures here The mid mounted verge cutter is not a great idea for over here as you are driving into the flow of the traffic while cutting and that's an accident waiting to happen This machine should be exported to a country where they drive on the otherside of the road, then it could work safely. To try driving that outfit on the roads over here you would be either suicidal or have to have a serious death wish in my opinion
  20. Fantastic detail as is the usual from Dave's workshop. But how long will the waiting list be for delivery on these models ? I've been waiting over 18 months for 2 County models and they were paid for at time of ordering

  22. Well a refund of some kind is better than nothing I suppose. Mine might be in todays post as it was not in yesterdays delivery. Many thanks to old pond for this gesture to its former subscribers and it is a pity they sold the title off in the first place to a person who let a good title go down the drain
  23. Looks like a new extra short wheel base model with the Hi- level mega visibility cab That is unreal the way it crumpled up in the mishap. Does the driver still have his job after that ?
