  1. Pic of a neighbours BLUE Massey 390... This tractor has been around since the mid 90's & has been this colour since the day it rolled outa the factory I would be thinking.On close inspection ,it has no traces of red what so ever . So it aint a secondary paint job..   . Second owner bought from CFM (local MF dealership) in Cork. Could be another possible colour for David Purdue  to add to his MF 300 Series..

    did one of these for a customer quite a while back who had one painted blue from new

  2. take the old britains major , they make silly money for what they are , id like one for my collection , but for that kinda cash id rather buy uh models that have excellent detail . britains orange fiat tractors also sell well

    give me the britaians major any day quality built toy model to last can you see a uh model given that treatment and here in 50 odd years time think not ?

  3. Got this at Bath and West toy fair a while back. It had been completly squashed, the headlight 'jewel' was missing, and the rider was completley devoid of paint.

     

    Got a 'jewel' from an old ploughing light, straightened the handle bars out as much as i could. Painted the rider, and used paint to pick out some of the deatil on the bike.

     

    I know its not farm 'stuff' in it's self, but will back a nice background piece, and it is Britains and 1/32 scale.

  4. sunday 17th of feb shows the carrickdale hotels 1st model display show. some of north&south of irelands best model displays. from farm,construction& lorry displays, collections etc. also some sellers with good range of the latest models and latest releases from the dvd men. tractor torque and john wanderson. junction 20 of the m1 south bound.should be a good days crack for all the model men, women. 11 till 5.

It's a shame no one could offer any comprehensive answers :-[ It would be interesting if there is a symbol/mark which denotes a model with a license, otherwise how do we know a product is endorsed? I see plenty of scratchbuilds produced in numbers that have little to no evidence of a license but is this because of the the production numbers?

    hi lee the models we build are licensed in black and white 

    every county 

    the massey fergusons we had to ask for the particular models we wanted and could only have them if no one else had them . agco charge 6% plus vat

    any licence from fords were between and 9% plus vat e.t.c hope this helps dave

  6. Nice review Chris. Got my batch today of 4440 & 4240S and as expected WOW..If Dave Purdue built JD's they would be up there with these beauties..but as he doesn't nothing compares in my little mind. The amount of effort that has gone into these is incredible and I have been on at all of the scratchbuild / conversion guys that we all wanted to see an amazing 4240 and boy heck have we now got one

    brilliant but barry i have built around 12 john deeres still have 3 left to do surprised ? >:D;D

  7. Not sure I've seen a scratch built County look as detailed as that UH County to be fair, and I've owned a few. They are probably more accurate though.

    now as we all seem to be allowed an opinion heres mine. detail and accuracy go hand in hand does the uh model have representative machined faceplates underneath detailed hex boltheads  around the gearbox axles engine e.t.c authentic linkage i think not

    well on a brighter note we are no longer building fulltime just finnishing off what we promised people and for myself and if we feel like it maybe an occasional show also for very good freinds not many of them have struck a few of them of that list (glad to have got that of my chest ) working full time now thank god

  8. the only bit that annoys me about uh doing this is they will kill of the likes of dave p, nigel ford and co, which to all  collector cuts out a potential line of models, that are as mentioned a lot better detailed, and a bit more exclusive, which as much as you younger guys moan, is what some  people want,in a few years you may well be able to afford these models, and once in your collection will appreciate them a lot more than a run of the mill uh model. theres a huge market out there, we all know that, so what gives ,do the likes of dave  and co move into zetors and more non mainstream makers ,landini leyland ect???, i bet right now if they did, they would get 1 or 2 years and bang uh steam in again , so why make that huge finacial outlay, to potentially loose it all?? maybe even more?? its just not worth the risk for them now sadly .theres no reason at all why uh can not keep away from those smaller makers markets, and still turn a very healthy run of fords or mf's ect , even implements. leaving the market open to all

    not to worry sean still think they will eventually go bang have got me flags out dusted and ready yeah

  9. tim there was never a blue britains county produced mate?? people claim there was but no records exsisit of them, the white countys if origonal are reasonably rare mind so i would not consider painting that up steve

    to be honest if you want a blue county i would go down the route of a scrap chassis from a tw35/25 or alikes, then fit repo parts and paint them up, all the body parts are freely avaible from the likes of dave twose, and they alos do the fron axel and weights for this sort of job, along with decals, certainly a lot cheaper and better than painting a white britain county and devaluing it

    hi sean we do the parts for these we know have the britains 1884 front axle cast in brass do not bend like the white metal ones
  10. question two is prob more than just turn circle, technology has improved so much that modern 4wd's now give as much grip as the older equal wheelers ,remember when they first appeared way back, most farms had 2wd as standard,early jds were hydrallic 4wd, most 4wds arround were conversion by non oem's and added extra cost onto the origonal tractor , so small ploughs ect were the norm, as kit grew so did the need for bigger tractors and traction to pull it, hence the birth of the countys and then the artic mf 1200 / 1250's ,ford fw series ,even when the mf1250 came out mf were already pushing the new 2000 serie mfs with "as much grip as a 1250" but better handling, hence why only some 350 were ever made compaired to the predecesor 1200 , good in their time, but sadly outpaced by the race for speed and money/versabillity

    hi sean question do the modern 4 wheel drive tractors drive on all 4 wheels when the diff locs in or just 3 the equal wheel countys drove on all 4 with diff lock and also braked on all4 not just the rears ?
  11. Nothing new with the MF 240 and UH!

    DBP has been making one of these for a while!

    So many masseys to choose from but lets choose one thats already being made by a small uk model maker (and a very good one at that)

    I personally think UH models are great and have lots of them in my collection, BUT is an independant model maker like Dave really a threat to UH? I think not SO LEAVE THEM ALONE and get on with coming up with some original ideas and make good models of them!

  12. I take back what i said about the MF 230 not being in 1/32. :-[The 240 will do me fine in 1/32. No pictures were posted of the 240 when i posted that comment. Want one.  :P DBP models will have to drop the price of there 240 bigtime to compete with UH one tough. David Purdue must not have seen this coming.

    your not as clever has you think will not drop the price if we do not sell any more or build any more will make the few more collectable that people have. and yes mr smart person i did know about there plans someone did not keep as quite as they said they had
  13. The only problem with your argument mate is the price, those DBPs left go for £200 (not always Dave's choice I am sure)  whereas this one will be circa £30-40 I imagine, plus Dave can't do anywhere near the numbers UH could, I agree the quality is unsurpassed though.

    they were £130 not £200 and we will not try to make 1000s has they like uh would just get dumped offloaded will never be a true collecters item like early britains

    not played with like britains which makes the unused and good items rare and collectable we like other handbuilt model makers are trying to make something right and collectable for for true collectors and ami piddled off (yes) we do not copy any one elses work i.e make the same model as other manufacters work
