  1. Always very slow now especially on first access to View Unread Messages. Sometimes over a minute. Have had problems posting replies too. It seems to take forever to finish
  2. I am getting serious go-slow again, too. Usually first load takes a minute or more but even refreshing is very slow at times.
  3. I'm afraid Diecast Collector, like Model Collector and other publications, will not review products unless you give them samples. No guarantee they will publish and the samples will never be returned (they use them as prizes or give them away). It is worth a try though
  4. If you go to the website there are a few more instructions such as "brush over a mix of PVA and water" (they give the volume of each) and a comment that small pieces may fall out! As for you being 7 or 8 - all I can say is YOU WERE A CHILD PRODIGY! They still do dinosaurs and birds as well as other things. Once assembled this is quite robust but glue is a necessity as the claws and whiskers(? or whatever) keep falling off. Other sections such as the leg pieces need sticking together long with parts of the tail. PS there were 148 pieces in this
  5. My "beloved" cousin suggested I bought a Woodcraft kit and I have spent several days deciphering the instructions. Today, having realised there is a small flaw in the instructions, I have been assembling the thing and it has taken me most of the day at that. All the swearing and sore thumbs was worth it as it looks the business. All I have to do now is apply a coat of thinned pva and stick it together. Oh yes - I have to stick the eyes in place too
  6. It is disgusting that people STEAL FROM CHARITY SHOPS! My daughter-in-law works in a charity shop and she has found clothing on the racks that have no tickets, smell of perfume (and more) and would never be offered for sale as they are such poor quality and sometimes so filthy they would be dumped in the skip. Te thieves come into the shop, select a range clothing go into the changing room and put them on. The old clothes are hung on a rail before they walk out wearing their "new" clothes..
  7. Thanks Andy, A great improvement from my point of view. Now unreads load MUCH faster on first open
  8. Congratulations, Will. Now you can fillet all flat fish. I must say I can do that too but when it comes to other types of fish I get stuck with a lot of disconnected bones. Monkfish is very expensive - I actually prefer the common dogfish (rock salmon or huss depending on the county you are in). Actually so is Turbot - the King of fish I have heard it called. My fishmonger had turbot the other day at £30 a time and I was tempted but it was far too big for a meal for one.
  9. Should be doing other things!

  10. I think the problem is that the forum has a huge number of posts and when you load for the first time the system has to check every topic and find the last read flag. When I keep my browser open but minimised, with my laptop hibernating rather than being switched off, view new content is fast. Perhaps it is time for Andy to archive some of the old stuff.
  11. Hi Rick, long time no hear from you Welcome back to the world Wagons sound interesting. Despite the time lag we still have Classifieds for those wanting to sell. Need some pics to go with the ad.
  12. Sounds good to me! Get them into the hobby young! The younger the better, Mia has an old wooden toy farmyard base of mine, complete with buildings that she has in the "play room" (the spare bedroom) along with some old plastic animals and figures which are not strictly part of my collection. These are hers to play with but she arrived with her elder sister the other day with more animals to go on it gleaned from a charity shop rummage box so i suppose she also has a small collection of her own! But my main collection of hollow-cast fascinates her.
  13. I have been allowing my 5-year old granddaughter to PLAY with some of my collection! I am mad? Possibly - but she was being very careful as requested and asked if she could take a few items out of the cabinet. She also put back those she had finished with so I am happy.
