  1. Well done Cerin, nice and local. Does this mean I can stop hunting up this way for you now..??
  2. Happy birthday Aunty Jo,......hope you've had a good day.....
  3. 86 years is a heck of a stretch as Man. Utd manager Barry...... ............................................................. ..!!
  4. Fancied doing a different breed,..different colour Jamie,....
  5. Last year a member on here asked me if I would have a go and make one of these rakes. The paint finish on this one is not the best,....the first coat of yellow reacted with the primer and had to be taken off.Used JCB yellow second time......no problems with that..
  6. 8 in a minute WITHOUT any kind of liquid other than saliva to help it down Sean...
  7. I take it that Rick wont be going for the world record of eight in a minute then... Anybody here ever tried eating as many as you can in a minute,.......five is easy,...six is a struggle...
  8. The last tier III , NH T6050 Elite...... Will be with us early next year......
  9. Looks like another master in the making Graham......
  10. Looking at more ground close to us,..about 80 acres,...quite a mess at the moment but worth taking on... :)
  11. Combine is fixed and ready for the last 20 acres..... :D Can't help thinking what will go wrong next though,....could do with another 200 acres to put her through.... ;)
  12. The heat Sean,...the heat did that,...it was glowing red when we opened the side panel up. Took one full extinguisher to cool that down..
  13. The offending bearing,... or rather whats left of it welded to the shaft along with the vario pulley..... As you can see, it got rather hot to bend that 3.5 inch shaft. None of the "southern harvesters" fitters have ever seen a shaft that big, bent by a failed bearing...
  14. The fire hasn't done as much damage as the bearing Sean,....the bearing took out one of the variable speed pulleys and the main shaft it sits on,....about 5 to 6 grands worth. Lucky we have a 440 on loan from a friend, which we can get harvest finished off with..
  15. When you buy from the "combine world " website Tris, you expect something half decent dont you....?? What stopped it,.......well,...lets just say that its lucky we carry 2 fire extinguishers instead of just the one and that they were both water. It was insured the day after we got it.
  16. All sorts Sean,..minor ,major and to top it all tonight after getting it going after a week being repaired we had an almost catastrophic bearing failure which resulted in a pretty bloody awkward internal bonfire. All the problems have been remedied under warranty up to now,but this latest one may be a bit different. After a major oil leak from the tailshaft gearbox a fortnight ago , I power washed all the sh*t and oil off and away and when the combine was moved I found a large ball bearing on the concrete where it was parked. The fitters were shown the ball and we stated that it had to have come from somewhere on the machine. They went through it and could not find anything amiss. Since that happened we have done about 80 acres of oats and it threw the tailshaft oil seal again,.....reason being that the main bearing inside the gearbox was on its way out.Major overhaul which took the best part of a week ,believe it or not..!!..,finally got it back together and going just after lunch today and into a really heavy wheat crop. At about 8pm we finally found out where the ball bearing came from.... ;) ......... :of
  17. Remember this from a while back...... It was a bad sign,...........a very very very bad sign,...........we have had nothing but trouble with this machine and to top it all,.....it very nearly went up in smoke this evening. :of
  18. A couple of pictures of the damage,.....look closely at the rotor ends nearest and the two long "vanes" that are showing on the top are completely missing on the bottom,....and how "dented" they are from being wrapped with linseed straw...... The same ends shown in situ,.......rather "beefed" up I would say..... The triangular strips on the new rotors run the complete length of the rotor, much stronger. Talking to the two fitters and they said that this was a common problem with linseed and the old style rotors.
  19. Went for a short drive yesterday evening,.....the first crop being cut in our area,..........oh, Jordantaylor please study these pictures carefully,..........these are what you call steep banks.. : Please ignore the dates.... [ The start of 30 acres... 2 hours later.. The photos dont do the banks much justice.... While cutting this 60 acres of linseed yesterday, the rotors blocked up three times and it cleared itself after a short while,I witnessed one of the blockages and it didnt sound too healthy.... :of They started cutting again just before lunch and done about 200 metres and she blocked again but while letting it unblock this time various lumps of metal were ejected from the rotors as well... :of :of :of :of They are glad they took out the full claas gold warranty,(or whatever its called) when they bought the combine. 2 new rotors will be there at 8.30 tomorrow morning,......and funny enough, claas have had problems with them because the new ones are quite a bit different and heavier built than the old ones..... :
  20. I see Lumpy's been busy,......made a bloody good job of her for a change...... :
