  1. the weight may not be needed where he is , but doesn't mean to say it won't at the next farm ,, got some hills down in somerset/devon/dorset where you cant not have weights , 360 hp or not , a tandem axle baler that balances the baler nicely doesn't get any weight on the drawbar , so effectively you're pulling a dead weight, & although the weight of the tractor sounds alot , you also have to consider the exiting bale over the rear axle thus making the rear end of the tractor lighter still nice pics mate
  2. i think the biggest weakness was the lack of strength along the sides , would only take a few years of hauling sugar beet to buckle or stretch the 3mm plate used , the problem was it depended on the trailer spec , the MF 22 version i remember had the lower sides with tail board hung on hooks at the corner stays , & for grain & potatoes that was fine , but for the higher sides al four pannels were bolted effectively there was no top half of the tail board so again for grain & potatoes not an issue , but for beet the top pannel above the tail board had to be removed , thus loss of rigidity for the upper sides & thats when damage started even worse when the beet had to be tipped as the tailboard had to be released by hitting the ring over bar catch, then lifting / pushing up over till the hooks released the tailboard completely, thus severly splaying the sides right out , a braceing chain would help but not much.............. WHOA..WHoa..whoa ..there seany, blimey my memory really has just kicked in ! the bar that locked the tailboard was attatched to the tailboard itself not the trailer , so when tailboard was removed the bar went with it leaving two caststeel hooks for the bar to catch into , so you may want to re-assess your trailer \ the hay ladders were quite flimsy really, the uprights were 2" right angle steel with small blocks welded to the sides to stop them falling down through the trailer brackets , but unless they were tied or drilled & bolted they jump out

  4. thats quite a find , i wonder how many people have sets like this hidden away & just forgotten about ? just out of interest andy , how much would a set like that go for , not that i'll ever find one let alone afford one !

  6. welcome Lars , looking forward to seeing some pics of your models & the real tractors alike

  12. hey i'm sticking up for you here mate , in a strange sort of way \ err no i think that was tris , i think um.. he had beans last night
  13. seriously mate , would you like me to phone him ? i can when i go back to work next week ? there was a picture of it earlier on page 33, with the bonnet off, so i think he's only just rebuilt the engine & it still smokes like chuffin billy apparently !
  14. oh i say sean nice to see this topic again ! never did reply for the bale extensions , basicly the extension was two channed beams the slid up into the trailer floor rails & bolted , & yes the tailboard bars & catches just stayed where they were , so there would be a small gap between the trailer bed & the extension bed. with my 5 tonner i strapped a railway sleeper to the end of the extension , so round bales wouldn't roll off the back , & loaded 8 bales on the bottom straddled with 3 bales along the top, no ropes , get back the yard , tip the trailer , bales roll off over the sleeper , straight back out to the field , then stack the bales later !
  15. big 8040 at wansdyke farms Nr hungerford another blue for colm now for some red start with a sun up shot of a 362 then a bit later with the sun actually up what at first glance looks to be a pretty good MF 200 trailer untill you look at the chassis rails , typical of these trailers , the chassis beams have cracked in two places & has been heavily plated, unfortunately the same has happened the otherside as well tidy 185 another 362, get about a bit don't they
  16. they're reflective strips colm but yes i guess they did
  17. whoaaaaaaaaaaaa there john , in one fell swoop not only have you just reduced our shy & retireing , reserved & inward, neigh & i say neigh again for our slightly awkward freind mark to tears & it's so sad to see the tears running down his cheek & snot running from his nose as he snivvels his way to his piggy bank only to realise he has to save for nearly a whole week before he decides to get the 240 completely refurbished .
  18. well thanks a lot , so called mate stevebestbuddy of the shire , thats the last time tris & i send the sacrificial teatotaler to beerbellyville for you to tease :D
  19. thanks chap , yes the 77 does look odd with the 2furrow, would look even more odd if she was kitted out on bigger tyres , having said that she does look awkward on those smaller tyres as it is !
  20. some good pics there chap , like the big massey & nh ploughing & the feeder being loaded also nice especially the dust / dirt effect on the feeder , also like the 7740, are they britains tyres on UH wheels ?
  21. nice work johny another great tractor to join your collection
  22. great pics of whats going on there sean & it certainly seems to be all go ! as for cage wheels , you thought about cotton buds for the cross bars ? failing that maybe some steel mesh from the garden center & pull them diagonally ?
  23. charming well at least we won't have to use your waste paper basket again ........ i told you those metal mesh things wouldn't be suitable :D \
  24. hmmmmm i think you mean me ? :D :D no.. no... well done to all who took part & managed to travel the distance on the combines , looks like a good day was had & a record broken , well done to all the irish farmers who took part .
  25. all that would work well mark providing you had room to either back an artic into the gateway or leave along the roadside , it's also a consideration that hire of an artic to wait till it had enough grain on to actually haul it anywhere !
