  1. nice tractor & loader sean, shame to see the oldies go though, maybe another smallholding down the road will buy them ? but surely the new one should be the red cabbed 575 ? or is it just 'new' to ash tree , great updates mate

    At work with Gav

nice pics gav , strange to see whats effectively quite a big tractor look small & awkward on narrow wheels hoe looks effective , but if yer anything like me , too much of it soon gives you eyestrain
  3. well that turned out very well indeed mark, well built mate , good to be able to follow from start to finsh & what a finish it is ! a stunning looking model
  4. well done chap , great pics , looks like a good day was had , i haven't been since 06 , & massey had a huge presence there from highwood tractors with some of their own balers & the kverneland/tarrup group, think the most impressive outfits there have to be the claas & krone fleets .
  5. i can take you there tomorow mate , make him an offer , you never know he might sell it ! why would you do that john ? , matter of fact , you should see if you could buy it, you'd have one of each colour then ! would like to see more of these yellow massey's about john now i've found a 20D i'll have to wait for a 30C (590)
  6. in the words of lord ferguson ,i too have had a pretty 'tractory' day first up is a 4455 390T then this wee beastie turned up to set the new mowers up a 6495 the outfit is 39ft in length & the find of the day is this little fella an MF20d the ind version of the 550 even still got the loader , but not used for sometime by the looks of it
  7. hello mate , had to modify your post as we dont live at portman farm , i live at portman road ! so have now saved you from a numpty :D i voted for portman road as thats where you are building it !
  8. tried to get some colour into some foam for some hedging thats pretty much it so far , but he wanted to take a few close up shots to finish the day with
  9. the base boards are going to be 3ft x 2ft & can be added to accordingly looks like the farms going to be the middle board so another section will need to be added , needless to say , thomas' excitement is getting hard to control as you can see he cant wait & even with it all in loose fitting form it's all go :D
  10. unfortunately by the time thomas got the pics ready to load , it was bedtime & school the next day & the forum was slow to load the pics , so i'll post the rest so far the buildings are easy to do & very quick , two workers cottages took approx 50minsto assemble, i cut the profiles but thomas seemed ok with the card glue \
  11. well dung spreading is upon us again , so popped next door to ask the farmer if we could borrow his spreader , the reply was "sorry no ,i cant keep lending my machinery out !" now then lets put things into perspective , we last borrowed the spreader this time last year for approx 3 hrs :D in which time i greased the bearings & pto shaftuj's tightened the drive chain & bolted some beater chains , ,so effectively it went back to him in better condition that we received it ! so nothing else for it but to find a fork & some willing drivers & spread it by hand \ i took the floor out of the transport box & just backed into the heap at speed to load the box then drove out to the fields & let one of the kids drive while i did the rest , bill meanwhile was taking some out with his bucket on the zetor once done all was then chain harrowed in but didn't get pics of that bit i did this all bl00dy after noon , blimey i'm so unfit
  12. corker nick ! most people find the old DB's dont die easily ! my find stood 20 yrs in brambles & still started whats the plan then mate full rebuild , or just do what needs doing

  15. we wouldn't be going to peterborough mate just the bath & west showground at shepton mallet , truckfest south west 4 & 5 july well thats if work will pay for the truck entries , if not i'm off to the coldridge collection
  16. hmm , you can put song lyrics to most situations of life you encounter but , Hotel California by the Eagles best sums this place up yes you can check out any time you like but you can never leave :D :D
  17. no problem mark , but i think seans memory is getting as bad as his spelling :D can we shoot him yet :D
  18. is that a siku forager then ? lovely model , can remember hauling alongside one of those seemed to think wow , so much more power & speed than the 690 ! more like it was going slightly faster & the 7710 i drove at the time & couldn't match the gears quite right ! in certain gears i'd be close to stalling as it was just too much to pull , the next gear down she'd be revving flat out & still not able to keep up , thats how i remember the 695 mega :D
  19. Lets see if i remember rightly , 1 door cabs had i grab rail , 2 door cabs had 2 grabrails , the side /indicator units was fixed to the cab not the rail. Top hinged window on 1 door cabs & slide window on 2 door cabs . As far as i'm aware slide windows were not supplied fitted into the top hinge frame window Single ploughlamp fitted as standard, usually on the o/s mudguard (but i'm sure more could be fitted on request) steps ? all depends on the time line & factory The one step british built & two step french built is an anoraks ideal , british built tractors more often were fitted with 1 step but have been found fitted with 2 step cabs . i personaly think it all depended on spec build , if the tractor would be going out on 18/4 32in tyres a single step would be used as the tractor would sit quite low but if ordered on say 13/6 38in tyres, two steps to be fixed as the tractor sat higher off the ground pre 81/82 had two piece front grills later models 1 piece grills. Late models also had the exhaust pipe repositioned to the side of the bonnet & a smaller steering wheel
  20. one day pete one day , may even enter it for next years convo comp at spalding
  21. considering you've striped it back to the bones , it looks better already thats the one thing i need to fit to my britains MF1505, been meaning to do it for the last 2 yrs :D i'm in no rush !
  22. had an hour or so to look at building a trailed forager , dug out the old britains forager but cant find the bits of the jag 690 i bought at spalding
  23. shame siku couldn't make their hitch's a bit smaller to actually fit these smaller classic tractors , will you be looking to alter the bulky front axle as well ?
