so is the claas comparable to the old renault gav ? or have claas tweaked a bit of everything ? spoke to a dairy farmer a while back , he changed his renault for a claas approx 100hp loader tractor , he said he'd rather have his renault back as the claas wasn't as good !?
  3. downgrade or not phill , at least you have a full time job now mate !

  12. i think i really ought to start refining my conversions, those indicators, grab rails & mirrors certainly add that little something extra don't they
  13. ok for those who wish to know , the liquid fert was being applied at 700ltrs per hectare & the variety was Yukon Gold
  14. the lorry driver said he had a sneezing fit was a robert wiseman lorry dont know if it was a tanker or a fridge trailer , fridge i expect i itch this time of year always tris gets even worse soon as silage starts , would love to run off a couple hundred acres of ploughing again though these are the chaps nick, maybe when you come over in a few years time a drive may well be available for a local contractor , god knows there's enough of them about here all good here ol, but also got some nasty stuff about as well, don't know about what colin plants into , but somerset soil goes from good light draining soil, to peat on the levels , to brash , flint & clay ! oh yeah we have it all here mate :D lovely stuff bas but not fortunate enough to have a drive myself , like i'd know where to start anyway, the vario bit looks easy enough , after all if pingu can drive one it cant be that hard :D it's the rest of it that would confuse me , but then thats not hard to do :D :D nearly as good as the stuff you see when you're out & about sacha , except you got more of it about than i have thought of you while i was rideing around john , martin was saying it could be awkward having the bigger kit based around one tractor , especially on the smaller fields as the constant hitching & un hitching of the equipment means a lot of running back & forth to get the work done , they have a sumo like yours , just a bit bigger . nothings lightweight about any of the stuff behind the 936 john, couldn't afford to be ,cant see a fergie ridger lasting long behind it could you yeah thought it was a step back for you phill , when i saw the pics , but i spose you now have a T shirt that says been there done that ! i'll find out what rate & variety for you later mate , she looks a monster from out side , but surprisingly small from the cab, the height when sat up there gives you the only indication what you're actually sitting in , that & the growl & roar from the engine & thats not loud as the cabs fully independant bit like sitting in a bubble , completely detatched from the rest of the tractor , where as the 820 & 718 felt like you were all part of the tractor , if that makes sence ? as for the argument over vario & powershift , vario wins for the bedtilling job !
  15. ooh ? i'd say a fair few gallons over a large acreage , or for the youngsters , a lot of litres over a fair few hectares thanks tris , started to itch now had a good day to take them as well mark , as the sun was side on so had a decent pic at either end of the field , rather than light one direction & dark the other i'm torn over the 936 & the 8690 now \

ever a wonder some of these tractors are still running ! just think someone somewhwere has a picture of themselves standing next to this tractor as proud as punch on the first day of its working life !
  17. go on cerin get in there mate , so much more to it now , when i helped out on this farm 23 years ago , it was MF 550, 265, 590, 698T stuff , just think what i'd be driving now if i'd managed to stick with it ! probably the 550 still \ :D
  18. pic of the GPS system , here martin can enter everything the system needs to know , from the size of the machine & a quick drive round the field , this maps it & can be acurate for groundwork up to 2.5 cms even gets the shortwork sorted by mapping the most efficient way to work the field GRRRRRR .................YEAH BABY all folded up ready for the next field
  19. now thats a hoooge ar$e backing up to the bedformer a view from the cab couple times round with that & then on with the proper stuff rough bedformed rows in front smooth bedtilled rows behind
  20. C refilling the liquid fert tank back in the yard um now which one shall i press ? ..............nope ! havent a clue not even thunderbird 1 has this much going on in the cabbin oooh looks whats just come back to sort the headlands out i thought the old 930 was the dogs dangiles but this is awsome stuff, power, beauty, style, this machine has everything , it really is lust at first sight :P
  21. remember i said there were uaually two destoners on the go ? well on it's way back to the yard a lorry decided to cut in a bit early & caught the front wheel spinning the tractor round & onto it's side , the driver john is fine bit shocked & at home resting , (not met john yet ) here she is , looking a bit sad on an 09 plate compass tractors have said it's not too bad , but it looks like a cab change & a few panels will be replaced along with the wheels & tyres , i think johns sarnie box slipped onto the floor as well but thats yet to be confirmed compass have another tractor going through PDI to replace this one while it's out of action
