  1. I build 1/35th scale military vehicles as well as farm models. Not sure about Tamiya as these are fairly new on the market but I've used the MIG weathering powders. I used them with water and tiny drop of washing up liquid to break down the surface tension to apply the powders so they deposit in the various crevices etc and then brushed off the excess when dry. I did a bit of reading up first and discovered that you can basically mix the powder with just about anything your imagine can come up with to acheive the effect you are after, from clear varnishes to resins to glues and all points in between. The possibilities are endless, as they say! If using the powders with a scratch build or re-painted model it is often suggested varnishing the model and then applying the powders, that way you could pretty much wash off the weathering effect if it messes up - I found it better to use the powders over dry acrylic paint, the only problem with that is that it changes the colour of the paint a lot, it all depends what kind of effect you are after. I found a matt surface offered more purchase for the powders to adhere to. A case of experiment, experiment till you get what you're after. Hope this helps.
  2. G Scale is 1:22 Look here for a comprehensive Scale Chart - scroll to the bottom of the page http://rail.felgall.com/wsib.htm Obviously aimed at Railway modellers!!
  3. Model Trees....this site was recommended in a model railway mag I picked up in WHS http://www.themodeltreeshop.co.uk/ Some nice stuff, not cheap, but if you are only looking for a few good examples they could be suitable. The size chart at the bottom of the home page is helpful. The twisted wire range look great and reading the blurb I do wonder if they would produce 1/32nd size to order................
  4. Here's my Ransomes version from Dad's Tractors. I got them to add the grain extension sides.......
  5. Think you'll have great difficulty in replicating 'crash damage'. Diecast doesn't melt and as far as I know won't bend. Why not just remove the doors, bonnet, wheels, glass etc and 'rust it up' as though its been stripped for spares and the unusable bit is just dumped to rot away?
  6. There was one I saw at ToyTrac - Martin Reeves stall I think - £45. Nice model.
  7. The stall was Squires, http://www.squirestools.com/ the website is just a web page with his contact details but get his catalogues, free and full of stuff. Does mail order with free postage.
  8. That's the way it goes when you are enjoying yourself!! Got there about 10.10, just as queue was shortening and left at 2.00pm. There were a lot of people around for most of the morning. As you say next year,
  9. Great day out. Good to meet and put a face to many names from FTF though I seemed to miss HenryMC and BGU/MGU. Didn't managed to spend a lot though I could have spent a fortune on some of the items for sale. Roll on 2009!!
  10. See you all there. Only takes me about 45 mins to get to Wincanton so I'll leave just after 9 and arrive as the doors open. Question - what's the Admission charge this year?
  11. Don't get too excited....its only a WHISPER and as yet totally unconfirmed. If I hear any more I'll post it.
  12. And I've heard a whisper that UH plan to release seven more Counties over the next 2/3 years in 1/16th scale and all 8 in 1/32nd scale............. ;D
  13. So at todays exchange rate that is £41-70, plus shipping from the Netherlands. It'll be interesting to see what price UK dealers list them at.
  14. I remember seeing some as well Jez. Got a feeling it was a German site....Witomo or Baernys (not sure of the spelling on that one) per chance? I'll have a hunt through my favourites.........
  15. Commiseriations Barry, building trade is going through a real bad patch. Join the club though, it happened to me a year ago.........enjoy your visits to the Job Centre.
  16. Oh by the way I should have added that they were the worst vehicle to drive I've ever come across. Had the minibus version for a fortnight in East Kent in the early 1970's fetching and carrying pickers around the veg fields around Thanet. No brakes, exessively vague steering and took about a mile downhill to reach 50!!
  17. Yes Marky sold in the UK as a Commer. There may be a 1/43rd ish Corgi, severl versions if I recall but I'm no Corgu expert so not totally sure, but no 1/32nd as far as I know. Pity as I would like one as well!!
  18. Possibly provide UK Fendt dealers get some. Ask Karen/Steve, they seem to have contacts with a Fendt dealer. Suspect the entire first run went direct to Fendt Germany so Ebay.de will have plenty!
  19. More details on Top Tractor website. Released today in Fendt dealer box. Avaialable from TT in a week or so. Standard box version available November. Also some more details on the new UH MF there as well.
  20. Just check the Toylord website, thats how I would translate it as well. Also looks as if it will be in a Fendt box.
  21. Fandabbidozzie.............at least one of those for me. Siku or replica linkages? Siku I hope.
  22. You go for it Tris (well you have haven't you). Everyone needs to treat themselves at times. Purely personal choice. Also with the UH Kuhn 6F on its way I'm just hedging my options and watching the pennies at the moment.
  23. Wonder how many Kverneland have ordered in a dealer box to sell via their dealerships? Several thousand at a guess. May see what the local dealer has/can get in a few weeks time. Nice model, this first release seems expensive for what it is. Would like one but as with Joe will wait a while.
  24. I use an Olfa P-Cutter. Its a knife with a special v-shaped blade that scores a groove in the card and then you just bend and snap along the joint. Originally developed for vynil flooring. Costs about £8, blades last a long time.
  25. Probably release fliud from the plastic injection mould. Enables the moulded part to be ejected easily from the mould with out damage/breakages.
