  1. There's a big mixed team harvesting last years carrots - still - under straw, on the way into work at Brough (if I time it wrong I get stuck in the traffic behind them at 7:30!). Case MXs, NH T7xxx, Easterby trailers and a muddy red lifter I can't see closely in the rush to work.
  2. Carrot-lifting pics proved a failure - the straw chopper had broken down and everything was stuck at the other end of the field, until a 08-reg JD7530 & Western turned up and stopped nearby. The roadsweeper was a W-reg 6410. It was too dark n grim (& cold) for pics anyhow
  3. More on the carrot-lifting near Brough yesterday there was a big McCormick Tractor (first one I have seen) & Easterby trailer I followed a JD6920 with Western this morning The straw lifter is an old-ish JD and the driver of that had an old Fastrak and sweeper to clear the roads of the inevitable mud! Will take a camera tommorrow, so hope they are working near the roadside
  4. Was the ford dumper painted blue John? I've seen a blue one about and the drainage company down our lane has a yellow one. Odd looking machines. Yes it was. Wish i could have got a closer look - it was certainly nice and clean.
  5. been to York and back twice taking the misssus - stopped near there for some trenching with a big Ford and fixed dumper trailer (without front wheels) except my batteries were flat and it was snowing ! Other wise, a big MF and Class ploughing, several NHs with various trailers (Easterby, Marstons) carting muck, a muck spreading team with JDs, finally carrots are being harvested near Brough with a JD7930 & Grimme with a new NH & MF leading trailers. Wish I had time to stop !!!!
  6. the very best of Luck to everyone form me, too ! (only one bottle of Batemans Victory Ale....and about to crash !)
  7. Was out and about shopping witht hte missus earlier and there were lots of signs around the Leven-Hornsea area of East Yorks describing a charity Tractor run on Sunday 23r - starting at 9:30 in Leven. Take a couple for me(I'll be under orders !)
  8. 9. Lovely ! is that a BTD6 ? Spent many a happy hour on them with my Dad ploughing (1963-ish !!!) Thanks for your replies chaps. There's not a lot of recent action to report but I am trying to get my phtobucket account going to log all my photos
  10. Evenin' all (back again after a long lay off sorting out a "new" PC) I've been surprised how few Combines I've seen in the last couple of weeks on my travels. Absolutely none seen all the way from Beverley to Eastbourne in glorious weather last week. 2 today around the Moors (a Lexion near Driffield and a NH near Pickering - Walter Dewent country) and that's about it ! looks like there's more than half of the harvest yet to finish round here. PS there's some lovely photos on here too - well done chaps
  11. Is there a way of picking up "replies to your posts" as on the old forum ?
  12. An immaculate week old 12 reg'd (ie a week early !) MF6485 drllling spring Barley on the Wolds above Pocklington. It was naff light so wouldn't have been a great shot anyhow.
  13. Livestock still needs attending to, even during holidays ! A tidy blue Zetor with quickie loader was seen delivering a bale of hay to sheep at Thorton-le Dale this afternoon (nr Pickering) - "Walter Derwent" territory ! Happy New year Everyone
  14. Seasons Greetings from East Yorkshire, as well. I'll be around a lot more next year and resume my pictures, jokes and daft questions !
  15. Been a while Mart, good to see an update bet you'll end up washing your new machine quite regularly !
  16. East Yorkshire set for ploughing contest East Yorkshire is set to play host to a major ploughing event next month, which will give young farmers in the region the chance to display their skills to the public. The 2011 East Riding Federation of Young Farmers Clubs' county ploughing match will be staged on November 13 in Middleton-on-the-Wolds, offering free admission. Those attending the event will be able to enjoy a "fierce competition", with the ploughmen taking part very keen to win, according to Fiona Witty, the secretary of the ploughing match. On the same day, regional finals will also be staged, giving farmers the chance to qualify for the 2012 British National Ploughing Championships. Lichfield in Staffordshire will host the championships in September of next year. Vintage, conventional, reversible and commercial classes of ploughing will be on show during the match next month.
  17. Had a couple of hours round the southern side of the NYorks Moors today with camera and without missus ! Failed miserably though. Mile and miles of road with nothing to be seen, then 2xJD 6930+bailey tralers carting spuds NH8340 cutting hedges Renault cutting hedges DB885 and box on hitch 04 reg TM140+Amazon cultivator/drill following a 05 reg TM120 & 5-furrow Knervland and the rest but all on the road/behind hedges etc BAH !!!
  18. In the last few days of fine-ish weather there's been loads of modern (Cat Challenger, new MF6480, Case quadtrack etc) and older machines (Ford 7840, Case 5130, etc etc) mainly cultivating/drilling/rolling or in the Potatos and the usual motley collection on hedge cutting duties. Unfortunatley I've been on a direct route somewhere, on the motorway or out for a run, so no camera or no stopping ! Highlight was a pristine MF35 and tined cultivator near Pocklington but was out with the Boss (to York shopping-bah !)
  19. I've seen 2 events advertised for this Sunday.... a Tractor run from Leven (round Brandsburton, Catwick etc) starting 11am and a Ploughing match at Hotham Carrs (North cave area) No doubt "the Boss" will have other plans so I hope the locals will post some pictures !
  20. nice sunny day but nothing seen on my journey to/from work, but only when out for a run later (ie no camera) found a new Ford T.... with trailed mower on the far side of a field
  21. A day round Open Gardens with the Outlaws etc (yawn....) in Wass (South of Helmesly for us Yorkshire folks) A smashing little Dexta sheeted over in a small orchard with mower attached later on, motoring between Hovingham and Malton a very faded blue/grey Ford 7400 - what a beast ! apart from them, b****r all !
  22. I saw a sign today in Hutton Cranswick (nr Driffield) that there is a Tractor Run starting at 10;00 Sunday 22nd in aid of the meningitus charities. Lets hope it stays fine AND I can get there (and if so, my camera works !!!)
  23. took the afternoon off work forthe gas Board to service my appliances etc...and they didn't turn up ! Aprt from the lost time, i'll have to re-book (but at least the missus was pleased with my bit of gardening instead.....)
