  1. A refund has been issued back to me as soon as Andy realised his employee hadn't done it, but it has caused other problems because of the way it was taken from my account, which I won't go into as it's no-one elses problem apart from mine now, but it just shows that modern technology is only as good as the information that is put into it, and as humans we all make mistakes some of them can be more costly to some than others.
  2. Do you not plough then Gav? I've seen a few people do it without ploughing i.e. just heavy cultivate with a chisel plough/subsoiler or similar, the last farm I worked on grew about 100-120 acres each year, both salad type straight into boxes and set skins over the grader for crisps/chips etc, our routine was - 1, spread field with manure if field needed it and if FYM was available 2, subsoil with a McConnell shakerator (buried nearly to top of the legs) 3, plough 'n' press at right angles to the way it was subsoiled 4, fertiliser applied then power harrowed / rotaspiked 5, ridged up and depending on quality of seedbed possibly bedformed/rotospiked 6, destoned and planted, we used to put on that horrible pink powder stuff when filling the planter It's interesting to see how other people do things, I guess lot of it is down to soil type and farming policy used, keep up the good work I really like following your topic
  3. noticing a payment taken out by model farmer mag's publishing company igp ltd at the beginning of the week by mistake, I told them of this and still have not had a refund back to my account yet, despite me giving them a few extra days to allow payment to clear, don't think I'll be re-newing my subscription when it is supposed to be re-newed in august, you ask someone to do one simple thing > >

  6. no R.O.P.S on it even in India? to be honest I was waiting for him to fly off the back and get impailed on the plough
  7. got a job interview for tomorrow, not a farming one which is what I really want to do, but it's a job and I'll take every opportunity I get in this current financial climate, monies poor though (£6.20/hr ) but it's within walking distance of home so no need to use the car if I got it

  17. Yep that's the people Lord F, so we will be back dated to august last year when the business 'officially ' started, should just have put the phone down and kept my mouth shut Well they can't have what we haven't got
  18. Apparently you need a licence to listen to music in the workplace (I generally listen to radio 1 or Kiss fm or my youtube channel by the internet) and was told we would have to pay I think she said £250ish, even though I am the sole employee and no-one else is here, but the fact we occasionally have customers through the door means we have to have a licence, but if I were to turn off the music the moment the customer came through the door then turned it back on again when they left that would be okay, by this time my blood was boiling and I told them what they could do with their licence, but she was insistant that we would have to have one and is going to send the information out, this made me go nuclear, and told her if we can't afford to pay a £2k rent backlog and £2k+ rates backlog how the hell were we going to pay for a stupid licence, especially as the business is going to be closing as a result of this, does this government diliberately want to bankrupt this country by puting all the small businesses out of business and increasing the un-employed, what a waste of tax payers money > On the up side I love a good argument thats set me up well for the day
  19. The business I work for got a court summons for non payment of rates £2k+, and then bugger me if the landlord didn't just come in and want us out of the unit by the end of march, will be stepping up the job hunting now nothing keeping me here, good day this one so far........ NOT!!!
  20. Great photos from an era where you could easily jump into a tractor and go off and do your work with the emphasis on driver skill, rather than press this button, hold that lever forward set up the gps etc, good to see tractors actually working for a living rather than you see these days such as 150hp £30000 - £50000 tractors pulling cambridge rolls or dragging a trailer around. Bring on more pics please
  21. This is so good, I want to get shrunk to 1/32 my current size so I can work on this farm it's brilliant
