  1. Thank you John each one is getting a little better I’m not very patient so I have to do small bits every day and pace myself otherwise I rush it!
  2. Thank you , I do prefer making buildings I must do some more
  3. Completed my scaledown field Marshall… I’m now using 100 degree solder as it seems to be stronger, as well as a new tip which has made all the difference. Still not sure about the Fry’s Powerflow flux I am using , seems to leave a milky residue which cannot be removed with flux remover, brake cleaner, petrol or paint stripper…
  4. Nearly finished assembling an e27n. Here’s a few pictures of the soldered joints. These have taken a lot of filing though! I finally mustered up some patience with that thing. Did my nails too…
  5. Haha I must say it’s probably quite misleading in many listings!
  6. There is an option when you list an item on eBay now which is a small button that says ‘generate AI description’ that will write this
  7. Hopefully I’ve managed to remove the twee from this shepherds hut! Built on a balsa frame, coffee stirrer floor , Britains lead wheels and clad with corrugated card
  8. Now that looks brilliant, I like the dry looking rust , something I have never mastered. What is the varnish you used James? I have never tried it brushed on I just use a spray after to seal it. I’ve never managed salt chipping either despite multiple attempts. Looking marvellous
  9. I’m sure you will do a marvellous job James, what colour is it? Orange is easy to weather
  10. He’s had me too, bought an irrigator or something from him three days later he messaged me to say he never had one
  11. That really is marvellous, haha may be you could send some my way😂 that binder is impressive
  12. Thank you James, i still need to develop a removable roof most of it won’t be seen
  13. That is amazing , may be a straw rick should be my next mission! It always interests me how localised the thatching techniques are . You can almost work out the location on the type of thatch. I’m trying to replicate Wiltshire long straw which is a bit shaggier. I think most now are combed wheat reed
  14. Thank you very much! , needs weathering down a little yet
  15. Finally finished thatching a new cart shed after weeks, used a lot of hemp on this one, smoked most of it…
  16. A scaledown Fordson standard N in the making. Nearly there with it just the brass steering rods and smaller parts. I made this up a few years ago when I was less experienced , and as a result it was rather bodged with many parts being glued upside down and bits of my finger stuck to it. A bit of paint stripper and I had a nearly new kit. I must say the attention to detail and accuracy in these kits as always is unlike any other model. You cannot even compare a UH , Marge etc alternative made from chinesium and assembled by underpaid workers The question now is colour…
  17. Finished it finally. All I can think is it would have a great turning circle John!
  18. Thank you John , I’ve never really understood the row crop tractor and what advantage it would have over a normal tractor or what it’s use would be
  19. Majority of the soldering done, it’s definitely not the prettiest, needs cleaning up…
  20. Started progress again with the major, planning a Bettinson tricycle conversion. I am now using a chisel tip on the soldering iron and I wish I’d done it earlier. Im running the iron at a much lower temperature and the heat transfer is immediate…
  21. I have finally managed to solder an entire model together. A scaledown te20, a much simpler build than the fordson and the traction engine which are still very much work in progress! Hopefully now I have a better understanding of how to solder white metal I can work up to the traction engine. The main thing I’ve learnt is the joins must be completely clean and unoxidised to form a strong bond. It is also easy to lose detail with big blobs which can be filed off if needs be however I am not that patient with a file. All in all in my opinion it seems to be a much better alternative to glue and it shouldn’t need resticking together in ten years time. It just takes a lot longer…..
  22. That weathering👌 Absolutely spot on with everything always look forward to seeing your builds John
