  1. Yes I agree, but if I could afford a half million pound Claas tractor I could hardly claim to be fed up😄 There are some very wicked people in positions of power currently and many will be at the WEF meeting in Davos this week spouting more nonsense & rhetoric which likely will make farmers feel even less appreciated.
  2. And so 2024 is here with even more rain. This is going to be another difficult year for farmers weatherwise I,m sure. And we aren't getting a lot of help from western governments either hence the wave of massive farmer protest's currently going on in Germany, france, Italy and the Netherlands. Our leaders need to put there people's interest's in front of those of unelected bureaucrats in the EU !! Didn't we leave that? I sometime's wonder. Anyway despite the gloomy weather we did have some good news this week in the shape of our new Fendt 728 tractor, what a machine it is too! Lightweight , powerful and very quick as well. It will do well to be as reliable as the 720 model that we finally decided to trade in for it. I had intended to keep the 720 for another year but the 728 was so expensive I had to part with the old machine to keep the cost of the outlay down. We now have four newish Fendt's so I won't be looking to add anymore for a good while. The John Deere 6R.185 was off hired at xmas as we took the view it was too small and that we would be buying bigger trailer's and equipment from now on, therefore you need bigger tractors with longer wheelbase's to remain boss of the job. So we will be doing a year long hire of another JD 250 HP tractor which should start later in February. We currently are ferrying maize back to our digester from various fields that we poly tunnelled it into during the hectic autumn. That will keep two tractors and our contractors lorries busy for a while. Farm deliveries of our solid digestate will commence just as soon as it dries up a bit and we can get the product tipped out by the fields we will then spread it on. Even tractors can't get on most of the customers land presently, let alone our lorries. And liquid digesteat is also a non starter although our contractor Legge's are hoping some work can commence if we get a few hard frosts next week, we wait to see. They have also decided to sell their big MF 8740S as its workload has dropped considerably after they added the second 8S tractor. And on that subject I understand the older 8S will be traded in the moment the 3 year warranty expires in March. Bill has had enough of all the electrical niggles on his 8S tractors which have spoiled his experience of an otherwise very good product. Funnily enough his new 7 series tractor has been fault free so far. The newer 23 plate 8S machine appears to be a bit better but not reliable enough to gamble on another one, so he will be changing brands on the replacement machine. He had demo's last autumn from Deutz & CASE plus visited working demo days for JD, NH & Valtra, he remains tight lipped on his final decision however.
  3. My new Fendt 728 has been upgraded and now passes muster. The radiator grill is now grey instead of black. The wheels have been sprayed Fendt red. Exhaust numberplate removed, new 73 reg rear number plate added along with Thurlow Nunn Standen dealer decals. A very nice model indeed.
  4. We have a blue & white re painted Challenger 765C pulling a land scraper or similar on the job next door at Kings Lynn, now nothing barks louder than one of those things!
  5. So I finally managed 5 minutes to sit down & photgraph my two new purchases🙂 The Fendt 728 was bought from my Fendt dealer who ordered it in from a french Fendt Warehouse, leftover model from Agritechnica. Edition One. £83.00. The John Deere 6R.250 came from NorthWest Diecast directly and not via ebay. Saved £16 doing this, and to be fair my last 4 or 5 orders to them have been turned around very quickly with no delivery issues. That hadn't always been my experience with them in the past, so credit where its due. Fendt is excellent apart from black radiator grill, should be grey. What I find odd is that Wiking just released new edition Fendt 0ne 942 & 1050's both with new grey grills!! No problem as I will paint it and probably Edition two version 728s coming in the spring will have grey grills. And I already have the wheels off and sprayed red in the garage. But the red plastic should please most buyers.
  6. Well it keeps me occupied Paul, and less reasons to complain😄
  7. Heres a brand new Ford TW25 in DOEs Fulbourn yard back in 1987, it got delivered to a farm not far from my house where it was the prime mover.
  8. I guess it will have an easy life, no stressful heavy implements that need dragging through wet clay for starters😄
  9. Yeah, well I was peeved they still hadn't raised the cab up over the fenders like on the real thing. I guess the tooling budget didn't stretch that far. So once again I will do it myself and narrow the wheel tracking and change the tyres. To be honest its 90% a cracking model that I will have to finish the other 10% on. The Fendt 728 is a brilliant model, the only flaw is the black radiator grill which should be grey but thats easily sorted. And I will be spraying the wheels fendt red too.
  10. This week Santa finally arrived with my belated xmas presents to myself. I will put up pictures when I get a chance.
  11. Absolutely flawless rebuild..................stunning detail & probably a higher quality paint job than the original factory applied one.
  12. I did see that Bednar Swifter over 12 metres width...............somewhere but not in production.
  13. JDautopowers latest video shows the atrocious weather conditions our farmers are up against presently.
  14. Someone needs too make something to go behind it, theres next to nothing for a 500hp Wiking Fendt 1050 too pull let alone the big red beast!!
  15. Good old Graham, always first with Britains releases😎
  16. No one in the UK will have those tyres on their 9S, they will mostly go R34 fronts and R42/710/75 rears, possibly also use the R38/ R44s like some Fendt 900s.
  17. The reason Deere were on strike was that the company were trying to mandate the covid jabs, understandably not everyone working there wanted to have one. Hindsight is increasingly proving they were right to refuse it. Many organisations are now openly taking back staff sacked for refusing the jabs, and rightly so, they should be fully compensated in my view.
  18. UH's blue power colour looks far too light to me, I think Britains t7300 BP paint work is nearer the mark, and Marges on the T7 HDs, both are darker.
  19. Anyone else thinking the new UH NH T7300 looks better in standard livery with the new decals?
  20. Well I accept its my area Gav, but thats a large chunk of East Anglia as my work takes me all over Cambs, Norfolk & West Suffolk. I see a sea of green, loads of Fendt 900s & big JD 8RXs, which have easily outsold the wheeled 8Rs. Our friends at Pretoria energy (Cambridge) run 20 Massey 8740/32S machines now and theres a few more of these & Valtra S sprinkled about on other farms. But I can honestly say I only know of two NH T8s and just the one wheeled Magnum 340 at Glover Agri just down the road, and they had so many problems with it in its first year they tried to trade it in to rival brands but couldn't get a decent offer, so they had to persevere with it. I think its finally settled down now and its a nice machine. I would love to see more magnums about but the ones that Pecks did sell initially were Rowtracs which have mostly been ousted by JDs ridiculously popular 8RX!! Velcourts have a new Rowtrac at Moulton Manor farms but thats it. I suspect suffolk may have sold a few more as that was Goodies patch (Mr CASE) for many years. But check out Ernest Doe website or indeed the Doe show and you will see very few old Magnums or T8s in their yards compared to JD dealers who have plenty of 8 series in most of them.
  21. CASE had high hopes for latest Magnum series but they have bombed!! Anyone wanting that category of tractor goes for Fendt 900, then JD 8R or RX and then a MF 8700S or maybe Valtra S.
  22. Thanks for the options guys, some nice ones there but it needs to have a tow hitch to pull the bowser. I plumbed for the black Mitsubishi Pajero 4x4 with the tow hitch as thats the kind of vehicle farm hands use when travelling distances to fuel foragers etc. Its in black which helps hide the fact its LHD which I can live with.
