went away early to start verge mowing, council phoned to say that we need to speed up as the grass is getting long, thing is thay told us not to start on the usual date as it wasnt worth cutting, dont really think its my fault.
than the rain came on and it slowed me down consideribly, then the gearbox snapped 2 of the bolts which attach it to the frame, so packed up and headed home only for the bl***y lifting frame to snap and the mower landed in a heap on the road > now i cant go tommorow till ive tried to fix it

Nice to be out in the fields again I bet Andy? The farm I worked a few years back had a 4m Sumo behind the discs, tight wad boss would spend out on a better one, have to say on the heavier ground it was a pile of crap especcally in a dry year. Wasn't all that bad on the sandier ground to be honest.
yeah its great to be busy in the fields, sumo definatly does more when the ground is sandy or if it is disced in front of the harrow, although i do notice a difference if i leave it up, there is definatly more soil in the centre of the harrow.
What about the nash Andy doesn't she get a job any more ???
was hoping to have the girlfriend discing with the nash but shes been too busy , the nash used to do all the sowing with the drill only.

Got to agree it seems to be going up by €20 a tonne every 2 weeks over here - no point in cereal/beef/milk prices going up if fertiliser/spray and diesel are all increasing still only the same bottom line - hence why I cannot understand some people going mad buying machinery
your not the only one thats thinking that
-
my mate ordered fert for sowing winter barley after harvest and it was ?450 per tonne he got told to order plenty as it could be up to ?550 by harvest :o

Nice pics Andy........Good to see the ol' Fordy still ploughing away........ :)
Is that a Sumo press on the front of the Renault mate?
sure is mart

F***ing kids from the village have pulled down another 1 of our stone walls, going to have to spend a while rebuilding it before i can get the field sown >

Sorry didn't look closely enough at the plough :D any problems getting spares like boards and bits and pieces yet
That trade seems to be fair - I'll swap you a hand propelled stone fork for it
no deal
no problem getting parts, spaldings seem to carry all the parts we need at good prices.
hopefully get newer plough next year and a stone fork
-
Nice tidy job of ploughing there - is that a 3f Lemken
Also what are the discs - Ransomes or Dowdeswell
Get that bucket off the front of the Renault I am looking for one of those Tanco buckets :D
plough is a 3f ransomes, discs are parmiter (i think)
i'l do you a deal you buy me a new stone fork and you can have the bucket :D

it was loud all right, its the offset verge mower it happened to not the hedger it looks a bit like the frame is twisted as all the weight pivots on a big pin at one side, not so sure how its going to fix \
