  1. 1978 catalogue shows combine with plain axle ends, as per the tractors. 1979 catalogue shows caps on the ends of the axles. Thats trade catalogues, bigger picture Perhaps the plain axle ends are from very early production, although the one featured in the catalogue is possibly a pre-production one
  2. Its a bit scary, I wouldn't call myself an MF fan, but I took more pictures of MF's than anything else It wont happen again though, I'm a true blue I had a look around the MF anniversary section early on the Thursday morning before all the tractors were parked up, it being a good time to take pictures. Unfortunately I never took the opportunity to have a look at the combine and the information displayed by the owner. I did have a good chat with the commentator, for their ring display, and managed to remember when this was on There were a couple of interesting four wheel drive conversions one being a 165 by Robert Eden using a Manuel front axle and PTO drive to this, very few of these made apparently. The other being a 135 with a Manuel conversion and the usual sandwich box, imported from New Zealand.
  3. Okay, first a couple of side views. Lowered/in work Raised From behind, lowered/in work Raised
  4. As noted elsewere these date from the 60's. There is a picture of 9596 in Peter Barons book BRITAINS Fordson, Ford, & New-Holland Toy Tractors. This set has the 5000 Super Major My first, a purchase from Zwolle a few years ago. Almost complete, the usual damage My second came from Toytrack, when at Farmer Giles, bought with tractor and some implements plus the information, regarding implements, cut from the back of the box. This repair was made before I bought it My third, an eBay purchase from last year. All complete all together, as you can see there are colour variations here
  5. Hey BC as above some lovely books, I have a few similar ones, they make interesting reading. Oh, you have the spud spinner picture upside down Have you seen the old pond videos of Farm Machinery Film Records? some of the items here can be seen operating, makes good viewing.
  6. This is an item of POS, see http://www.farmtoysforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=20558.15 and scroll down a little Yes, this is the first version of the one with the yellow cover. There was also one covering Fordson, Ford and NH tractors with a blue cover from 1994 and another covering Massey Ferguson tractors and implements, with a red cover from 1996 Model Tractors and Implements by David M Bate from 1982 Britains Civilian Toy Figures by Norman Joplin et all (3 others) Armies of the World, 1993, and Regiments of all Nations, 1981, by Joe Wallis Various reprinted Britains catalogues, to include the 1939 version reprinted in 1976. The 1940 edition reprinted by Almark publications in 1972, these fall apart. There is also a version of the 1958-59 edition, by whom and when is not marked/known although I was in a toy shop in Honiton a few years back and they were selling these and told me that they'd had them reprinted Cole's Encounters of the Third Kind by Plastic Warrior, 2005. More from Peter Cole about plastic figures/animals and his time at Britains There is an updated version of this too Farm and Site magazine articles by Peter Baron, Clive Drakes and Warner Hall to name but three Last but by no means least all the trade and customer catalogues, leaflets and advertisements issued/ released over the years by Britains themselves. None of these are exhaustive in the models/variations released for sale by Britains Ltd
  7. Try 01646 661645, taken from a July 2005 spares list so should be ok

    County 1172

Have looked in two Stuart Gibbard books, these mention/show some pics of 1162 and 1162TW tractors but no mention of 1172 model. Looking at the photograph at the beginning the front axle appears to be mounted back to front with the radius arms coming forward to a mounting plate bolted on to the front casting, like a lot of 6 cylinder conversions of the Fordson Major. The strop does not help, obscuring the view as it does Is this badged up as a 1172 County?
  10. Corn King is based on the TR85 with maize head, there is also a TR86 from the Powerfarm range. MF 760 comes with and without the jeweled lights and is also available in blue from the Little Farmer range
  11. I can not tell you much other than that I have seen one of these, super major 5000, ones before. I wanted to buy it, but it was not available by the time I had sorted out with the seller which one I wanted, he had more of the DDN type, in blue. I presume that they were available with the 5000 and Shawnee-Poole trailer when it was changed to blue from yellow
  12. He has the box, so why describe it incorrectly
  13. I would have gone, as it is really easy to find, but it's cup final day so I'll be cheering on my team, I just hope they play better than in the semi final Some bargains to be had I expect If you go by tube, when you come out of Richmond station cross the road and look for an alley, opposite/to the right (I think), go down this alley and turn right at the end, this will be Parkshot road, the hall is up the road aways on the left hand side, It looks a bit like a school, to me anyway.
  14. Model number should be 5560. Saw this when it first came up on ebay, not a bad price for a boxed second version Dx 110, the Deutz Allis would be about 10 times that price I'd be a bit dissapointed when it turned up, expecting a Deutz Allis
  15. That fuel tank must be made out of thick metal, seeing as all the rest of the tin work has disappeared. I came to the conclusion that it was probably an international, based on the shape of the fuel tank and the fact that there isn't a donkey engine or anywhere for one to be fitted. How were these started? by handle? I cannot make out the six on the rusted remains of the seat box, nearside, though
  16. Get the pocket guide by David Pullen, it will tell you all you want to know, well worth the money. Yes, orange wheeled ones first
  17. Early cab less versions of the 6Y or ford force 5000, as BBLQO92's picture, had a longer top section to the exhaust, as per the pocket guide
  18. As promised, photo's of the Acrobat rake box with old and new catalogue numbers on same box with slightly later box for comparison As far as I am aware you can not get a direct replacement exhaust for the early, cab less, 5000. They were a little bit longer than the latter versions, according to the pocket guide. As ever I stand to be corrected if wrong
  19. I can remember seeing this done, with all sorts of birds/animals, by the gamekeepers in a big wood where they reared pheasants for sport. I think this was more to prove to the estate owner that they were doing their job in keeping the vermin down. A gamekeepers gibbet I believe it was called
  20. Have to disagree with you there PR, looking at the picture showing the rear axle its nothing like an E27N axle and everything like an N rear axle. The seat also locates at the front of the axle/worm drive housing on top of the gearbox, with the steering column it gives a very rearward driving position whereas you are sat above the axle on an E27N as opposed to behind it. Front axle is too low, hubs are straight on to ends. Not to sure, poor photograph, but it looks like it may have two air cleaners, the usual N one behind the block on top of the clutch housing and the latter E27N type as seen on the nearside, I may be mistaken here N style 7 spoke rear wheels though. Looks like a bitsa to me I am no expert, all mistakes are mine alone To sum up weird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. 135F became 9534 in 1962 when it was available in the packing case box, with both numbers. I have 176F/9537 Acrobat rake with both numbers on the box and a reference to the 1962 catalogue, I will add a picture latter, memory willing At some point in the 70's, I believe, the individual discs were replaced by a two part casting per side. It was deleted at the end of 1976 and replaced by 9553 in 1977. 138F became 9551 also in 1962 and was again available in the same style of box as the discs. It was sold separately until the end of 1970 after which it was only available in a set with the 3 furrow plough, as set number 9555, from 1971 to 1974. Replaced with set number 9546, in 1975, consisting of the 3 furrow and 3 furrow reversible ploughs. Plastic was first mentioned, with reference to this plough, in the 1972 catalogue so presumably it was metal until then I remember these boxes, just............very small then, but ripped them apart to get at the toys
  22. In numerical order- 9321-TW35 tractor 1987-1991 rebadged as 8830 in 1991, so any sets manufactured in 1991 will/may have the 8830 model tractor 9322-NH TR96 combine-1988-1989 9323-Class forage harvester-1988 only 9324-County1884-1989-1991 9341-Vicon towed vari spreader 1987-1991 9342-Howard rotary manure spreader 1987-1991 9343-Maschio powered harrow 1988-1991 9381-TW35 and vari spreader 1987-1991 9382-TW35 and manure spreader 1987-1991 9383-TW35 and vicon mower 1987-1988 9384-TW35 and powered harrow 1988-1991 9385-County and animal trailer 1989-1991 9386-County and NH940 baler 1989-1991 9390-TW35 and vari spreader, mower and manure spreader 1987-1988 9391-TW35 and vari spreader, manure spreader and powered harrow 1989 only All markets I should imagine. Information taken from trade catalogues for 1988 to 1991 inclusive
  23. TW35 Powerfarm set 9390 with Vicon mower, Vari spreader and also Howard rotary manure spreader, the mower is not powered from/by the tractor. Released in 1987 deleted end of 1988, replaced in 1989 by set 9391 as described by Tractorman810. This set was deleted at the end of 1989 so is probably the rarer of the two sets. I did not know it existed until this little bit of research I have the earlier set. All of the powered implements were available separately with the TW35 as also was the mower. The County was only available, from 1989, with either a NH 940 baler or animal trailer, and separately of course. The 8830 was first listed in the 1991 catalogue as "9321 Ford TW 35 (8830) Powered Tractor" It was still available with the three powered implements, separately, so presumably there are sets out there with the 8830 as opposed to the TW35, with the same set numbers. All deleted at the end of 1991 :'( The Combine and Forage Harvester were first issued in 1988, the Forage Harvester was deleted at the end of the year and the Combine in 1989. Where is this advertised?
