jsedelweiss
I have seen this for sale and wondered because he says its a fordson major but it had such a good fit with the tin work it looked like a proper 5000
robbo
Some of the first pre Force Fords retained the names from their predecessors, the 4000 was the Major and the 5000 was the Super Major. I am trying to decide if that one is fitted with a Selene front axle or whether it is a Roadless conversion, I can't tell from the photo :-X :-X
jsedelweiss
Its a roadless, but he says that it has 5000 tin but its a major? It's confusing i know but thanks for your help. I forgot about that kind of major!!
nashmach
It is a Major alright - look at the handbrake
NIGEL FORD
a real bitsa.... early E1A major (slot in 6 stud rear 1/2 shaft face) with 6 cylinder engine and two cut'n'shut 5000 bonnets/tank and front end and Duncan weathercab frame I believe... nashmach
I agree with Nigel so it can't be a Roadless 6/4 - to be honest I'd leave it where it is - unless it goes for scrap price.
Simon
I bet it was the answer to their prayers when they built it though, power, traction, stability... might look a turd now but they obviously put some care into building it originally.... I think it's quite cool.... and no oddball parts looking at it, could probably be salvaged fairly cheaply if that was the sort of thing someone wanted.... MJB1
as long as it's all uptogether mechanicly it would certainly be an interesting rebuild , other than that all it needs is a bit of paint simons right though , i daresay it looked the part when it was first cobbled together, they'd basicaly built a tractor to the spec they wanted ! shame to see these sometimes remakable one off's being left to rot away
