Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 as requested heres a few pics of the combine so far,not done much on it so far other than hand rails ect and paint but have started the new header reel but ran out of brass rod till the weekend, and havn't had a final price back yet for the new lights and stuff, also got the cerea decal to add,but unsure about changing the model number ? what do you think did they ever do a plain 7200? and do you think the header looks ok in grey,as this is the colour it's in in the brouchure on the fergy web site(see the first 7200 post for the link ) Quote
civilpek Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 as ever looking very sweet tm, if i was you id make her a 7278 Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 a couple of the header reel and one of the full front so far a grand total of 306 staples bent into shape to form the tines on the reel, the cornwall libary service now has none left :D Quote
Old Ford Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 YOU'VE GOT A LOT OF PATIENCE THERE TM810 LOOKING VERY GOOD. Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 also very sore pinkies but when you se the reel up close it really was worth the effort Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 thats my scratch built farmhand muck spreader, used to have on one the farm and been doing it in between other stuff,a filler job really Quote
THEBRITFARMER Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Another fine custom there Sean.........did you wrap one end of the staple around the rod (use the longest part as the tine) the snap off the other end ?? Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 i twisted one end round a pair of round nose pliers i have first, but just a little looser than the rod,and then hung then on the brass rod, spaced them out to look pretty even then supered glued them on,then cut the excess of the other end to get them all the same length,if you leave them loose they hang straight on the rod so you get them all in the right position Quote
THEBRITFARMER Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Thanks Sean, may have to have a go at making something like that for my CX880 Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 it takes a while but is well worth the finished result, thats taken me about 6 hours work so far,and i still have 2 more rods to do Quote
Lord Ferguson Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 That is fantastic TM810 - you must have the patience of a saint. ?Brilliant idea to use staples - looks just like the real thing - I would never have thought of that in a million years.... and the best thing is that is RED !!! ;) - please keep us posted on your progress Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 will do mark, going to look at the tank doors next, should be able to make them open up, Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 from looking at the pics it seems there's a raised edge round the top of the tank,so i may put that in and use a leght of brass rod glued on to the underside of the pannel, just drill a small hole in the raised bit and done, hopefully ,if i get it done i will post some pics up Quote
THEBRITFARMER Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 it takes a while but is well worth the finished result, thats taken me about 6 hours work so far,and i still have 2 more rods to do If I start now, I should be ready for next years harvest Quote
Lord Ferguson Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Sounds good to me - Brass rod seems to be the stuff of conversions like that then. ?I am really tempted to try something myself but I would'nt have the skill level to carry it off. ?I would be reallly interested to see the tank doors if (when) you get them done. ?How do you (well do you..) join brass rod ? Does it solder ? Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 might be worth keeping the old real though just in case ,just make new pannels out of stiff plasti card, that way if you need to you can put the origonal back in,i can't as i cut it up ? :D just a hacket man i thinks, mother always said i would end up a scrap merchant or a building demolisher :D Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 i think you can solder it,or braze it, i think powerstar put a topic up in the forum some where about brazing, but that was on steel, Quote

I don't think they did a 7200 ? Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 right thats all i needed to know,a new number it will be,just wanted to confirm really Quote
JC Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I'm not certain but I think the 7200 was a mistake on Britains part, sure someone like NCC will come up with the correct model numbers in the next 24 hours. Have you decided against an RC version?? Quote
Tractorman810 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 for the mo,just way short of time, and to be honest the rc tank donor was a bit on the crude side,it was falt out or stopped, going to buy another later on and try again but really look into the parts and gears first,i will do one,but it needs more planning Quote
JC Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 have you seen those remote control fire engines about 2 foot long?? Plenty of motors and gearing in those. Quote
FB Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 looking good Sean!!!, was gonna try that like we discussed when i posted that JD STS that had tines on. The pics on here somewhere! :) Quote
