sparrow legs Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 no replies to the sign writing had duel wheel eyes fitted on the jd today, watch this space (if all goes to plan) and if the front ones fit \
Pete Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 you planning to do land work with her mike or is it for flailling bad fields
MJB1 Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 well mike i recon the sign writing is spot on , not outstandingly gareish but not insignificantly understated either , but notice there's no phone number ? had a friend with a 7810 who did contract trimming ,he also only had name on the tractor , with plans to get another trimmer for a 76 he also had but not much extra work was forthcoming , when the lack of number was pointed out , he said "well i dont want my bl00dy phone ringing all day do i" \
Lord Ferguson Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 as above Mike... looks good I reckon... there are never many spaces ona tractor to put signwriting... but I reckon you've found a good spot... and a size that's easy enough to read at a distance. I'm looking forward to seeing the duals pics too
sparrow legs Posted September 24, 2009 Author Posted September 24, 2009 phone number is going to be added, the writing was a birthday gift from a mate and his wife, they overlooked the idea of the phone number
sparrow legs Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 at last a pic of her dueled up with the rollers on
sparrow legs Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 and here she is an hour later with wheels and rollers off washed ready for her first road run tomorro (note the matching flashing lights now)
Lord Ferguson Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 well done Mike... she looks like she means business with those duals on... You are lucky to have road runs this time of year... I only know of one around our way... and that's in April :'(
sparrow legs Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 its only a short run as part of the local heritage weekend, i have to get the wheels back on and rollers for monday, im only going as we have the weekend off as were back to drilling on monday it was a real bonus that the duels fit my new tractor as there the ones off my old 3040, i nearly sold them last year, good job i didnt
tractorbob Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 what implements have you got to go behind her
05rich Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 you've done well with that 6810 mike 8) and nice sign writing shame about the front sticker though
The Tractor Twitcher Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 That is one very smart tractor you have there Mike, looks very impressive with duals and rollers in tow, liking the sign writing on her too.
MPR Models Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 That is a very smart and nice tractor Mike
sparrow legs Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 thanks for ya kind words, its a nice tractor but its in for alot of TLC in the winter to try and get it looking something like my old tractor, all pannels will get re sprayed at some point but it may just get new decals for now to make it look better.
sparrow legs Posted October 28, 2009 Author Posted October 28, 2009 UPDATE, got back flailing, bad news tractor started to make a whineing noise, got my fitter out to it and it was as i thought, the bloody turbo has blown tomorros task is finding a new one that dosnt break the bank :'( also got some new decals in the post to me to re badge the bonnet
MJB1 Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 think you may have a few niggly problems to sort out mike , after all it's still a new to you tractor , she's not going to surprise you all at once now is she , just a few expensive parts here & there
pistol pete Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 not what you want to hear mike hope you manage to find a turbo cheap. i am sure ehe will look like new when you are finished after the winter
Lord Ferguson Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Oh dear... (no pun intended)... that's not good Mike... as above, I hope you find the parts at reasonable prices and get her up and running again soon. If it's any concellation, I've had a few breakdowns with my tractor recently... nothing major.. but it just goes to show that all things go wrong.. no matter what the age
sparrow legs Posted October 31, 2009 Author Posted October 31, 2009 rang round all garett agents, jd have it fixed that they cant sell jd turbos direct so its costing £800 for a service exchange and wont get it till thursday did think of bypassing the turbo as i dont need the power on the flail \
MJB1 Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 have you not tried any breakers yards mike , maybe a rolled one or fire damaged one is about ?
Lord Ferguson Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 that is highly annoying Mike... I take it there is no other maker that does a 'pattern part' for your machine - what I mean is... does it have to be a garrett
rich.new holland Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 its suprising how much power you lose when the turbo goes isit it :/ when the turbo went on the 82 before it went from being a realy power house to being a sulgish ,no power machine
sparrow legs Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 rang all breakers, founfd one for a 6900 but told its different, rang all pattern firms vap/sparex etc but they dont list a turbo for a 6810 :'( i am half tempted to drive to lincoln with my old turbo to see if it matches the 6900 one. finding a few bits that need doing to the tractor but it is 10 years old and cant expect it to be as new with 7800hrs on the clock now
sparrow legs Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 drove to lincoln, turbo the same but it was more worn than mine! went to jd dealers with my turbo, was told the turbo was ok (with it sat on the counter) and that my fitter was wrong saying the turbo had gone, but then was told to bring the tractor in with it fitted to check it over, low and behold they now say its the turbo getting behond with work so running it with fingers crossed till i get time to have it recon (fraction of the price) flailing today and some hedge flew up and smashed my wing mirror im not having much luck!
