B O R
Having bought an ertl ih 2400 on ebay by chance i decided it would make a nice implement to display with my 784.this is the original crude toy,all solid metal construction, big crude pivoting holes for the tailgate and generally a carpet toy
B O R
this is the real machine, not common,it has a rubber belt that the bale drops onto before landing on the ground
B O R
pic 1 here shows the rubber belt
B O R
as you can see theres a lot of work to do to this drab toy to make it real
B O R
so,i cut it apart as it was joined by solid metal,im going to fit proper belts instead.all the inner framework is now brass and the big crude tailgate pivoting hole has now been neatly modified, various parts of the old frame were cut away to modify
B O R
the sides have been cut open to allow fitment of the big sprung rams that move up and down as the bales being formed, here the main tailgate lifting rams are now fitted to a new brass frame which is pinned right through the ertl frame to give it strenght as you cant solder this metal
B O R
more in mid conversion, there was a hell of a lot of work at this, pic 1 here shows also the new pick up and roller bearing housings fitted
B O R
more, and 1 of the painted baler and the first steps of fitting the proper belts, note the pick up now modified,i spent 2 hours inserting cut pins through the plastic to make the pick up fingers,in pic 1 the thick brass tube is the roller for the belt to work on
B O R
now the belts being coloured black before the opposite sides are joined together
