Light Land Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Good looking cattle Rob. Do you keep any cattle outside on rough land over winter?
MF-ROB Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 No Olly all cattle are in side we haven't got much rough ground we have 12 acres of hill ground but some of its down to trees and wild bird cover and we can not graze it the only stock we have on the farm outside is 20 ewe lambs which have the run of 60 odd acres so you wont see them. .
Light Land Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Do they pay there way the beef cattle Rob? they look very good heavy cattle but with them inside you must have a lot of costs.
MF-ROB Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 We try a breed bulls to sell to other breeders and then the ones that don't make the grade will be took for beef the cost are not to bad just the cost of getting your silage baled really and the meal this year we lowered are cost by turning the silage into some hay and baled it ourselves so that saved us a few £££
