Steve P Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Today while attending the fantastic Welland show near Malvern, i spotted a old 1981 Ford TW-20 for sale for what i thought was a good price "15 quid in fact".. i purchased the un-boxed and slightly worn model, well i just had to!!. I was suprised that the cab is metal though, is this a replacement cab or original??. If it is a replacement then it looks pretty good and i am pleased with it, though i wonder if britains ever made metal cabs??.. Here is a pic of the model, have a purchased a dud or can i sleep easy tonight.. ha ha!.. Quote
SMurF Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 It can never be a dud if you like it Have got tw20's, 5610's and 7710 versions but have not seen a metal cabbed one Quote
CMB Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 It must be a well painted reproduction Steve as they were always plastic (and easily breakable) Quote
justy 46 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Well metal cab or not,it looks pretty good & tidy. ;)Id be happy with it. Look on the bright side. Stronger cab & its one of a kind. Quote

Tractorman810 Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 brian norman used to do white metal cabs for fords ,arches to i think, but dont know of anyone else that does them Quote
Steve P Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 Thankyou all for your help.. I am glad i purchased the model now, i have had a closer look at the cab and it has been painted though it has been done very well and it fits very nicely onto the tractor. I agree CMB, them old plastic cabs are not very sturdy, one only has to look at one a bit hard and they shatter!! . I have to say the metal cab on my TW gives the model a lot more weight and apart from the AWOL driver the rest of the model is in pretty good nick. Quote
CX820Joe Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Its a lovely looking tractor - I had the 7710 which I am sure was the same casting, just a little later - the cab didn't last long on that at all - a metal one would have been a great replacement Quote
Marmitemania Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I have a Britains Deutz DX a metal cab and that is very nicely made and finished. Quote
