Tractorman810 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 splash out and go the 165/75 route mate, theres nothing like driving those, especially if you can get the flexi cab version, may pay to find a rough one and restor her, but you will be fighting trissy and his lot for her mind : Quote
MF-ROB Posted August 6, 2011 Author Posted August 6, 2011 Having driven a 3090 (32x32) and 3095 (16x16) my views would be go for the 16x16 gearbox as the farm I worked on had alot of problems with the 32x32 ones and alot of repair bills for them, that's why when they got the 3095's they had the 16x16 gearbox instead and had no trouble with them. Ive heard that from a lot of people that the 16x16 is better and then a contractor near me who runs all MF3000 has a 13000 houred 3080 32x32 and the gearbox never played up \ \ \ splash out and go the 165/75 route mate, theres nothing like driving those, especially if you can get the flexi cab version, may pay to find a rough one and restor her, but you will be fighting trissy and his lot for her mind :  I know what you mean and your right theres isnt anything like it aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah i dont know what to do :'( :'( :'( :'( will the gloves have to come off Yooohoooo!!!! giggady aallright giggady giggady ghooo Quote
MJB1 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 may be a 2000 series tractor would be worth looking at, very little in the way of electrical problems & big tractor for reasonable money, bit of a plodder & a 4wd version is a bit cumbersome in tight places other than that good engines & backends Quote

tractortim Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 well i think the 3000 series offer good value for money even if they are a little bit more complicated i've been offered a 3095 32 speed for £4500 pounds its not the smartest but its certainly good value for money! Quote
Tractorman810 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 theres some tidy 500 / 600 series mfs out there to, seen several on ebay recently inc one down here for under 4500 quid, one was loadered to, Quote
MJB1 Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Thanks MJB1 was thinking on a 2645E what are they like on the road i bet there a good job on a heage cutter with them big doors havent had the pleasure of the 2005 series, many farms i drove for were having the 3000 series rather than have a face lifted 2000. i dont think any 2005 were 40K the 2000 definately wern't as said these tractors answered their critics in the field not on the road, so any trailer work felt slow & labourious on the road but to be fair the 2640 i hauled silage with was slightly faster than the non 40K 3080 which was also on trailers. i think it stemmed from the fact you expected to be going faster because you had a big tractor . from a hedge trimming aspect you'd be hard pushed to beat the 2000 for visability it's great , ive trimmed with 2 & 4wd versions & one's as good as the other , even the 2wd , is great because it's own weight just lets you sit there & get on with it even on reasonably steep ground & with half decent tyres i never shot off down the hill trying to trim whatever i slid past. parts maybe a problem for some of these tractors now , but it's rare anything actually goes wrong with them from my experiences i think tims neighbour, Andrew Carter still has his 2640 2wd on his trimmer , & it's been on that tractor for what must be the last 15 years now ! well i think the 3000 series offer good value for money even if they are a little bit more complicated i've been offered a 3095 32 speed for £4500 pounds its not the smartest but its certainly good value for money! quite right tim these do give good value for money , but unless you know it's a good one the electrics are the risk , although i think most parts are reasonably cheap & it's all tried & tested so again a good 3080/3090 or a 3115 /3125 would be my bet from this era. theres some tidy 500 / 600 series mfs out there to, seen several on ebay recently inc one down here for under 4500 quid, one was loadered to, for whats required of it i dont think anything from these ranges of tractors would be quite enough for what you want, the only thing that might be any good would be a 699, but finding a good one might take some time , another option would be a 298 with the duncan supercab again you'll be lucky to find one , these were popular dairy farm tractors & many would have had their day now.
