What a nice thing to say :-*

Got over 25 new items coming out this year... put that in your pipe Britains...phwwwwt  ;);D ;D ;D

Seriously, Britains products were the very first source of inspiration for HLT and it's just great to see them bouncing back with the products we've been asking for. Still no poultry, though :'( :'(

Not only no poultry, but horses deleted too. Very few animals or people at all really, and those there are are very poor compared to the Britains/Herald plastic figure range in the 1950s/60s, never mind comparison with the old lead range.

I hadn't noticed that the horses have been deleted, but I'm not surprised, as they really don't sell. There are better models out there for people who want horses and most farm diorama builders don't want them on their modern layouts. Sign of the times I'm afraid, David :'(

They have  ;)  (although the new catalogue items are not on it yet - but then the new catalogue is only just printed and not in the hands of most retailers yet).  I would not expect it to be updated until after the Toy Show.

when was the last time they released this much in one year ?

Last year  :)  - there were 25 new releases marked in the catalogue last year (although two of them didn't appear in the end - the Kane trailers).

Purely for the sake of interest (and because I was bored and had a mad urge to have a count up); the approximate number of new releases including buildings, figures and accessories marked in the catalogue each year since the launch of the first tractor in 1948 runs as follows (I have not counted sets unless they contain unique items not available on their own, and have not included repackaged items such as the mass repackaging of the animals and accessories which happened in 2004):

You have too much time on your hands Clive 8)

It always appeared, to a small/young me, that Britains never seemed to bring anything out ::)

Interestingly only three years when they didn't, the last occasion actually having something to release but choosing not to, wonder why?

I take it that for '58 and '59 you used new lines lists?

I have far more time on my hands than I would like  :(

I used a combination of trade catalogues, New Lines catalogues (where I have them), and referring to James Opies 'Great Book of Britains'.

The 1974 non-release was the 9566 High Sided Tipper Cart, which I was told buy a retailer at the time had to be witheld because of a shortage of materials - it was around the time of UK financial calamities and the oil crisis and the 3 day week.  It was shown again as a new item the following year and it finally appeared that spring (1975).

Your impression of not much being released years ago is probably right - in some of the years where there were larger numbers of releases, many of them were plastic figures and animals, or buildings and accessories rather than tractors and implements and, in some years, the new releases include re-coloured or rebadged models that were labelled in the catalogue as a new item (as indeed some are this year :-\ ).
