Oakley Farms
Ha very good! No we have hired stobarts with walking floors because we are struggling to get weights on in the bulkers making it expensive, the walking floors have a bigger biomass capacity making it cheaper to haul. Oakley Farms
Start of a fresh week and this will be the last busy one of the year with the potato harvest in its last few days which is tying up 9 staff from the harvester to the grading team, we are also having to have Bonnings in to haul full boxes down to ashwell cold stores on the other side of the estate as the 3 on farm are now full. Chris is up at Camelot pulling down maize stubble which i want drilled by the end of the week. Phil is over at Martock subsoiling for Stewart and the maize team are at Wigborough now with 2 days harvesting of mine left this has gone exceptionally well, i couldn't be happier. If the weather holds we will direct drill oats into these stubbles as a catch crop before maize again next year. Meanwhile iv been sat on the sprayer a lot lately and finished pre ems on wheat and now applying autumn fungicide on the rape, finish this in a day or two and then back on rolling wheat in behind the drill, busy busy!
Oakley Farms
Last of the wheat tickled in the ground on Monday behind spuds after they were finished last friday. Now all rolled and pre ems on with Tom greasing up before leaving the yard. Things are slightly quieter now allowing Dan to haul potatoes in the 828 down to our coldstores at Ashwell with the three on farm now full, Mark has washed the harvester off and changed wheels back on the 6830 which is now for sale. On Monday i went down to Chapmans to collect some oats before drilling them straight into maize stubble as a catch crop with the 939 and vaderstad, now stopped as iv broke the drill!
Oakley Farms
We are on finishing drilling the last of the oats today as well as putting slug pellets on some of the rape now its dry, also odd jobs such as moving the last of the soil from the grader now spuds are completed, all drilled up for winter no messing about
0025
why dont you just buy an old trailer and leave in next to the grader to fill with soil rather than load it up and make a mess in the yard?

Oakley Farms
The only excess fuel we are coping with is the excess we are saving ;)
