Classic Tractor March 2013

Recommended Posts

My copy arrived today and I have have a quick flick through to see what in this months issue.

The first thing to take my eyes of the 2012 photo competition winners. Well done to David a member on here for winning the Classic class.

The next thing to take my eye was the readers rebuild of a Hungarian Dutra D4K-B. It is nice to read about rarer models as well as the more ten a penny Fords, MF's and John Deere'e etc.

I thought the Mud and Machinery from the archives was quite appropriate given the last two years some good pictures there.

Last but not least I recognise two of the tractors for sale at Cambridge on Saturday 27th April 2013 an Orange Field Marshall 111a which was imported back from Australia and a David Brown 50TD which worked in Alaska. Having worked in cold conditions this crawler is fitted with a hydraulic starting system. Both tractors are from the Kintore area of Aberdeenshire and I know the two chaps who restored them and their workshops must be only a mile apart. I look forward to seeing what price they are both bid to on the day.

I'll certainly be cherishing this particular issue more than most given the results of the Power On The Land photo competition. Overall winner and Classic Category winner 2012. All your kind comments every time i've contributed my photographs towards the forum have definitely spurred me on! Thank you. :)

This is one oft the best issues so far in my opoinion. Good feature on the Hosking fleet . Love their County 4000 & its good to see classic Fords still hard at silage with their  little 4610 flat out carting. Luke Furses 7700 was another good feature. I had seen his 7700  in the flesh at last years Ploughing Match & its some beast. The RE Power special & Mud and machinery was also a great read. Great Issue again.
