A new model farm and construction show is to be held at Dingwall Academy on Saturday 16th March 2013 and is being organised by Dingwall teenager Callum Morrison. The show is on from 10am until 4pm and fundraising groups from the academy will be selling soup and baking during the day 8)

All monies from the hire of tables and door entry will be used by Dingwall Academy to purchase materials for the Learning Base which specialises in supporting children with

Hearing / visual impairment

Spectrum Disorders (Autism, Dyslexia)

Mobility issues.

I think it absolutely fantastic that someone as young as Callum have decided to organise another Scottish model show. I for one will be supporting the show and displaying a display case with my childhood Britain's and also covering the event for Model FARMER.

I will do all I can to support and promote the show. I will take posters and flyers to the DMR show at Fruchie this weekend....... ..assuming I get there in the present weather conditions ;D   ;D

In addition I will see if I can get posters and flyers up at the BA Stores at Lyne of Skene and I'm just off the phone to Graham Miller of G&M Farm models and I asked him if I copied the flyer and took it to Freuchie would he be willing to put a copy into any Scottish orders sent prior to the Dingwall show...the answer was a positive yes....so thanks to G&M aka Graham, Michelle and Layla for taking the time to do this 8)

If anyone wants more details on the show please drop me a PM or email and I will pass on Callum's details if you cannot read my photo's

Now I must go and fill in my application form....I won't be paying an entry fee ( I don't support that for exhibitors but traders who are profiteering yes ) but hey ho I will be sending a much larger cheque as a donation ;D ;D...just to help get another Scottish model show up and running and to benefit good causes 8)

No problem Callum it is just great to see another Scottish model show starting up and I'm sure it will be a success but advertising is key to getting a new one up and running. I spoke to Stewart Duncan yesterday and he wants 8 tables but he has not received his entry form yet. I said to Stewart I would copy posters and flyers for him since he goes to the Falkirk swap meet which is held on the first Sunday of every month. He was more than willing to do so. Stewart was a motor factor travelling saleman prior to his retirement  and has loads of contacts so I'm sure he will be able to help advertise your show in a big way.

My application form with a donation went in the post yesterday and I've a hotel for the Saturday night at Conon Bridge.

Stewart is a top notch chap and I think he said he would be taking 8 tables for sales so he will have a wide range of models for sale. I will get copies of the poster and flyers done next week and drop in past him on my way from work one day. I can assure you Stewart will be a great help in advertising your show as he has been for the past two years for the North East Model Farm and Construction show.

On the way to the DMR event at Freuchie yesterday I stopped off at "Ye may gang faur and fare ware" aka Strathcathro Services near Brechin for a "truckers" breakfast. For the past two years the chap has displayed flyers and posters for the Aberdeen show so `I thought no harm in asking about prompting Dingwall  and he took two posters.and and stuck one on the front entrance door as I ate my breakfast. 8)

Quite a few flyers were being picked up spectators at the DMR event in Fife this weekend and Graham and Michelle Miller are away back with 50 to drop in any Scottish orders between now and the Dingwall event.

I phoned Stewart Duncan who will be selling models at the show and I went round to him on my way home today and left him with 2 posters, three application forms and 50 flyers. Stewart will be going to the Falkirk toy fair this coming Sunday and also the first Sunday in March so he will have them on his table and be spreading the word in the Central belt of Scotland.

PS Callum...Stewart said he had not received the application in the post yet but he has one now and two spare for anyone else interested at Falkirk 8)

I will go in past BA Stores with a poster or two and some flyers probably  this weekend.

I went in past BA Stores yesterday and spoke to Allan Brownie and he knows who you are Callum. He took 45 flyers and put them into an upright document display holder on a table beside the counter. In addition he took 3 posters one for the front window and two for behind the counter. I pass BA Stores every week so I'll drop in by and see how the flyers are moving. Oh and Allan wishes you success with your show Callum.

That is good to hear Callum. You could try Joe Watson the editor of the Farming section  of the Press and Journal to see if he would like to do a feature in the farming section of the Saturdays Press and Journal prior to your show i.e. the weekend G&M are in Perth. If you go decided to go down that route I would not contact Joe yet but say 2 weeks before you show. Just another thought on some free publicity. In addition have you considering writing an article to the Scottish Farmer. I did that for the Aberdeen show last year and it got mentioned together with a cartoon about model shows.

  • 1 month later...

Only a week away to the inaugural Dingwall model show and from speaking to Callum and his mum the other night it is looking as if there is going to be a wide and varied range of exhibits and traders at the show. Yesterday exhibitors should have received a letter telling them and parking / fire alarms and safety issue etc at the academy and also and exhibitor badge and a complimentary ticket for morning tea...what a nice welcome touch 8)
