Old combine and classic combine photo's

Recommended Posts

Since attending the DMR event in Fife last month I have been emailed a lot of photos from Henry Pirie from Pitmedden in Aberdeenshire who I have known for around 30 odd years from the vintage rallies but never actually knew he was into old photo graphs.

First 10 Clayson 103 combines at Cairnhill Tarves on 22/08/1966  the farm of Lindsay G Cook a local farmer and contractor

Then Henry driving a MF 780 Special at Downies in Aberdeenshire in the late 1970's

Last  circa 2004/ 2005 before Henry retired he was fixing these combines at Nethertulloch, Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire.

Now some of the older working combines I have taken over the past 5 years.

The oldest one I have seen this year was a small Volvo BM reg ESO 679F circa 1968 cutting corn on a small croft between Kintore and Kemnay.

A Claas Dominator 80 BSA 565N first registered  on 2/09/1974. This combine was a three way shared one but now co owed by Graham Phillips Roadside Skene the driver here and another part time farmer in Skene.

great to see some older machines at work, thanks for sharing

Glad you like them Sid....I thought it would be nice to open a new topic specifically on classic combines still and work and have them all in one place 8)

Going back to the harvest of 2009 and here we see Steven Mitchell combining at Hopeton Farm Drumoak with this Class Dominator 85 OSA 921R first registered 3/9/1976. Sadly Steven has since told me the engine has blown so I suspect it may have now been scrapped.

Good photos, Bill. It's great to see older machines being used seriously, and sone of them like the first NH 1540, look in very good nick.

I've spent several harvests on one of those!

Thanks John I just love to see classics in action. Peter Morrison is New Holland and Ford through and through and they have had that combine for many many years.
