Hello fellow model enthusiasts!

Hywel

Recommended Posts

Hello there!

My name is Hywel Phillips and I live on the picturesque coastline of Pembokeshire, Wales.

I am 18 and still in Sixth Form but heading to Harper Adams University in September to study MEng Agricultural Engineering for 5 years and hope to work in the industry doing R&D both in UK and abroad.

When I was 4 years old I got given my first model - a Massey 4270 with a Kvernland wrapper and 2 bales.  Today i have a small collection of models but ahve recently moved to UH models and hope to do some more collecting towards the future and build towards making a diorama as apposed to my shelf :)

My pride and joy currently is my Case IH Puma 230 which has a front mounted SlurryKat Realer, and a full pumping kit sat on a RPM low loader that is trailed.

Recently I managed to aquire the  Norscot Claas Jaguar 900 which I purchased off ebay from France, I am so pleased I now have one and have now ordered two red and white Smyth FieldMaster silage trailers to complement it (Scratch built) and also two Massey Fergusons, a 7499 and a 6475.

Over and out!

p.s. any photos, just ask!

Hi Hywel welcome to the forum. Where in Pembrokeshire do you live? And yes, start posting up your collection! I like the sound of that Puma-slurry setup.

Hello guys, Thanks for the warm welcome:)

@Jdeere6910 That is great to hear.  I already love it there, especially after the HEC last year! Did you go?  Maybe we met?

@CMB Hello there.  I am from between Fishguard and St. Davids, a village called Croesgoch which you will pass through on the way down to The Sloop INn, Porthgain.

@Tractorman810  Thank You.  Yes I will hopefully have some pictures up soon.  Do I post them in the my collection section or here??  Can't wait to receive my scratch built smyth trailers I have on order currently!

Welcome along to FTF Hywel, I run hay down to your neck of the woods from Wiltshire. Deliver to a place north of Lampeter and then normally load tractors back from Newcastle Emlyn.

You'll enjoy it here mate :)

Hi Hywel,

I went to Harper Adams many decades ago, doing the poultry course. As things turned out, poultry became my hobby, not my work, so my time there was a bit wasted.

Back then (1971-73) the cricket and rugby teams were the most dreadful hooray henry bunch of uttter xxxxxxs I've ever encountered. I hope the present generation are not as bad. One of the non sporty types got their revenge once while I was there though, and 'borrowed' a tractor & plough one night to ensure the cricket match against the Royal Ag.C. @ Cirencester (then an even more obnoxious bunch of upper class twit xxxxxxxs) got, ahem, 'postponed'.

Ihope you enjoy time spent here at the forum, although from what you've said so far, i doubt I'll comment much on your threads, as I only collect figures, animals & machinery, all made long before you was born (generally I'm not very interested in any models made after 1970, preferably models made before 1940), not modern tractors, machinery, etc.

Green wagon and drags? If that's them then yes, often see one of them up at Cheffins, Cambridgeshire delivering machinery to the sales there.

Welcome to the forum, Hywel.  Like David I collect old farm toy figures but do have a collection of tractors (but none are modern). You are going to have fun here and hopefully make a lot of friends.  We are a really friendly bunch

@ Leakeyvale  Thanks, I hope to too :)

@ Deere-est   Yes that would be them, green red and yellow outfits, mainly rigid's but they do have a lovely Scania R470 Topline.  They hall a lot of straw as they are somewhat merchants to a point and yes you could say machienry sales is 'there thing'.  Yes they do have a drag and a tandem axle dolly trailer.
