bluegreen
Thought you chaps might like a look at the new JD 6125R as I bought one in Feb from Ben Burgess.......................In the main a nice little tractor which will be ideal for carting big bales in summer and currently is rolling the carpet The first thing I did was take it to bits as I was hoping I could switch the folding front linkage to my 6210R but as is typical its not possible without lots of hacking and sawing.................................so having identified the steering lock as crap I set about hacksawing the little metal pin off that restricts the turning capability................now it turns a lot better. As with 6210R the front lights need replacing but this time I couldnt be bothered so I just drew them on The front weight which comes with the tractor is far too big for a tractor of this size so I took an unused spare weight I got off a UH Massey model and painted it JD green as its the right size and looks similar to JD ones After cutting the exhaust number plate off and painting it black I then removed the wheels and sprayed two coats of JD yellow on them ad painted the nuts silver............................and dirtied tyres as a final touch...................Looks ok now The pictures below also show finished 6210R & 8360R on the poo tanker along with one of my two 7530 convos which will shortly be heading onto Ebay

altrac
Looks class! You're right about the deeres on ebay, I was looking into getting myself one and they're by far the most expensive even in their basic state, (that's for all model makers ones i must add)

You're right about the deeres on ebay, I was looking into getting myself one and they're by far the most expensive even in their basic state, (that's for all model makers ones i must add) When I consider the cost of the original standard model and then the parts from all the other models used to upgrade it, not too mention the attention to detail to finish it satisfactorily, the amount Ive made on any of my ebayed models over the years isnt enough! Thankfully for me its just a hobby and not a job, so the money I make on any sale is just put towards the next model I want Certainly theres a stronger demand for JDs so I always mark them up accordingly................................I am amazed at the prices some pay for other peoples JD convos ive looked at which I felt still required more work to finish I always paint theJDs wheels and detail them, most others dont bother! Sorry I should have made it more clear, when i said model makers i actually meant the companies like siku, britians, etc! But yes you're right, it's an expensive business and trying to even remember all the things you had to buy and factor them all into the cost of a model must be a challenge too. I'll find things round the house an use them and would forget to add them to the end price i'm sure
bluegreen
I have a large parts bin these days but if I were making another 7530 the costs of the Wiking original plus two donor Siku tractors,my time, paint etc its going to cost £200 to put together plus profit to make it worthwhile and VAT = £300+ easy

So will many people pay that for a model? I know I wouldn't be able to. Mind you some of these ones you see on ebay go for enormous amounts
