1972farming
I recently bought this old Fordson E27n off ebay for a fiver, well part of an E27n. I grafted on the rear of a Britains MF 595 and hey presto. The 3 point likage works a treat and I fabricated the drawbar into a clevis type too. I know theis has been done before but its the first time I have tried to put 2 halves of different tractors together. I am currently grafting a Ford 5000 supermajor onto a tw20 back end too. I found the front of the 5000 in my scrap box of bits and also have added a duncan cab. The final photo shows it up against an original tractor. Hope someone likes it as much as I do. CMB
Great rescue there! How did you bond the two halves together?
1972farming
Thanks for the kind words. I made a joining piece out of a block of alluminium which was the same size as the hoolow part of each casting and pushed it inside of each hollow half. Does that make sense ? The two bodies were very similar in size in the middle section which was lucky. The only thing I would do differently next time would be to use a smaller lower linkage from an older 6600 or 595 so that I could use the original sized E27n wheels. I am not entirely happy using the larger wheels but the rear linkage was too low with normal wheels. Mind you I might do another set of these size wheels with thin wheel weights and I may paint them in gloss too. I used a matt finish orange on these to try and keep it 'older' looking. Its a pity these castings don't come up more often !! Another mistake I made was not taking pictures as it was being built.
