Stabliofarmer
Aside from still building Drawtop Farm I have started work on a wood yard to display some of my models. The inspiration came from a trip to the seven valley railway were there was a little yard at the bottom of the field were they were splitting fire wood. Here is what I have so far An overall view. Running along the back will be an embankment with trees on. In the top left is a garage based on the one at my house. Moving down to the bottom left there will be a 20ft container and suspended between the two a roof to protect equipment and wood from the elements. Next to the garage is the fuel pump and eventually the LPG tank. Moving to the right in the top will be the gate and in the bottom a static caravan with decking surrounding it (not sure whether that caravan will stay or if I'll make a different one). Then next to that is two 8ftx 4ft garden sheds and then a wood shed for chopped logs. I may also add an old grounded railway truck or box van body somewhere. Now some more pictures The container will be in the forefront, and were the tractor is will be covered. The garage will be fully fitted out with machinery and junk. The fuel pump is embedded into the embankment and the LPG tank will go on the raised plinth at the back. Not sure whether there will be a wood shed or just logs in trailers and under tarpaulin. Thanks for looking and any comments or advice is welcome
HS.
Looking great so far, can I ask where you will be getting the container, or are you making it
Stabliofarmer
Looking great so far, can I ask where you will be getting the container, or are you making it I'll be making the container myself however I think there is a way to get one of the shelf. There's a model railway scale called gauge one ( I think) which is the scale of 1:32. Therefore as containers are a common train load they should be available in gauge one / 1:32. The same would apply if you were after a grounded box van for a layout simply remove the chassis and voila
Stabliofarmer
Been busy today. The 20ft containers been brought into the yard along with an old box van body that's being used to store the quad at the moment but rumour has it that there may be a shinny new skid steer coming in the next few days. That will be kept in the body then. Here the images Thanks for looking James

Stabliofarmer
Finished of the embankment yesterday and weathered the fuel stand Also got this little number for my birthday. A Cat tracked skid steer which will come in handy around the yard. Will be building a lean to onto the box van for this to sit under Thanks for looking James
Stabliofarmer
A bit more work on the garage with the walls painted and the base for the roof fitted. I've left a gap at the back to see into what will eventually be a workshop with lathe pillar drill ect. Thanks for looking, please tell me what you think

Stabliofarmer
That's looks brilliant did you make the caravan yourself? Thanks No the caravan is a cheap plastic one. I think its from a teamsters set
Stabliofarmer
Mainly been tarmacking today. Done the road, part way through painting the path to the garage and only laid the area around the caravan. Also built part of a broken stone wall by the road side Also built a lean to onto the van body to park the skid steer. Still bits to do
Stabliofarmer
Also guttered the garage. Sorry about the dark picture You might just be able to make out the down pipe in the centre is only half way down, this is because it will have a water butt at the bottom of it. Thanks for Looking Any advice or comments welcome. James

Stabliofarmer
The wood and tin shelter has now been stained and painted and just needs weathering now Slates have been added to the garage roof, considering a few purple washes on this for a welsh slate look. We got to work carting some stone with the new dumper straight away. Also the Skid was running low so Alun topped her up at the pump
Stabliofarmer
Alf came down from Drawtop with the Claas to pick up the processor, he was hoping for an early start back but... It had gone dark by the time he left Still working into the night on the Polaris Ranger were Stewie and Freddy as its there only way home. Mean while Tom and his trusty dog Meg headed to bed in the caravan on site. What do you think ? James

Stabliofarmer
The Skid shed has been weathered with rust and ivy. Rust achieved by simply dry brushing different shades of orange and brown. The ivy is hole punched green card (who knew a geography book would come in so handy ) Also been working on this for the yard. A county 754 that will have front blade and cab along with a winch. Another county with roof crane is also planned. Thanks for looking, Comments welcomed James

Stabliofarmer
Got the call yesterday afternoon that the first few trees had been chopped and were ready in the forest. Before anything we had to get the old dumper out of the wood shed to free up space for logs so Tom quickly hoped on the dumper and started her up while Meg the dog looked eagerly on. For the time being he just stuck it in the garage out of the way Now Dan could move the county down from Drawtop with one of the Ryetec splitters new for this season. It took him a minute or two to get to grips with setting the new machine up but he soon sorted her out Around 4 o'clock and Tom got back in the Bobcat with the first few logs from the forest.
