camwader
My garage was originally a haven for my classic bikes, but the farm toys are starting to gain a foothold.

david_scrivener
Well, you fooled me. When I got down to the last but one photo, with the girl, I was thinking, "Is this new member revealing rather too much about his private life?", thinking it was one of those expensive life size sex dolls featured in some TV documentaries. And then there was the last, 'reveal', photo. Well done! A great diorama!

camwader
Thanks everyone for the appreciative comments. You were of course meant to think it was full sized, which is why I didn’t mention ‘model garage’ in the topic heading. When I started the garage model it was going to be a very simple floor and walls set to provide a backdrop for my 1/6th bikes, and was really just to eliminate real world stuff from the background. But then I discovered the diecast tool cabinets, which meant I had to make a bench and shelves to go with them. And garages need clutter. So what was going to be a very simple exercise took on a life of its own and has evolved and matured over several years to what you see here. The blue, yellow and grey Fordsons are an Oxford Diecast 1/76 triple set, the John Deere is a 1/87 Siku, the Farmall Cub and Allis Chalmers are both 1/43 UH. The broken traction engine is a very old Lesney, and the Harley Davidson SuperGlide is a 1/6th Tamiya kit. My main model tractor interest is 1/12th scale, but putting a farm toys flavour on the garage gave me a good excuse to buy a few smaller scale models, and put up a few tractor signs and photos. Here are a few more shots from the time before the farm toys.

camwader
590mf - I think you could accurately guess what most of my mates think of me playing with dolls. For some reason, there is an automatic assumption that men only play with dolls of the type best not discussed on a family forum. 1/6th scale action figures are very popular, mostly of male and military subjects, but also female subjects. A lot of the military modellers are, not surprisingly, serving or ex-military types, and it would be hazardous to your health to suggest that they are playing with dolls. Personally, I don’t care what you call it. I am an experienced modeller across a broad range of subjects and if that’s looked down on by some as just playing with toys, so be it. I do play with man dolls as well, so that’s alright, isn’t it? My ten year old niece certainly thinks it’s cool that her uncle has some great dolls. My avatar is actually one of my dollies:

camwader
A little up-date: I've just built a display cabinet to give the models in the garage a bit more protection - they were getting rather dusty.
