BC
The Lower Deeside ploughing match was due to take place at the Batchard Farms near Blairs by Aberdeen today but I got a call back late yesterday afternoon saying it had to be rescheduled to next Sunday due to the frost. That means next week end I could have two matches to attend since the Newmachar one is being held at Fiddesbeg Farm, Undy in Aberdeenshire on Saturday 14th December 2013. BC
Well Jock Seivwright from Meigle usually does well and gets a placing but not tyesterday and when he wasn't in the rankings he threw the rattle (well the program) and away home he went...rather childish but hey ho. Mark Skea was 4th in the conventional K Robson from Stonehaven Jim Walker from Inverurie won the throw out in the conventional Bob Milne from Pitmedden wasnt in the rankings but at least he won two raffles which Ian Williams took on his behalf. ROB 7810
Great photos Bill its easy to see how far out my front furrow was with the wide tyres tramping the ploughed ground but I suppose everybody looks for excuses when things don't go right. However it was my first match and I was quite happy with my effort and to get fourth in class and collect a prize I am fair delighted. Donald did a good job of explaining how to set it all out because I didn't have a clue and there was a lot more to it than " DRAP THE PLOO AN HAUD GAAN " as they say. That's a good photo with the two of us in it and Donald getting third and me fourth made it worth while having the early start on Sunday morning to drive down. Cheers Robbie
BC
Great pictures as usual Bill Thanks Steve...still getting used to this new camera though. Cheers Robbie A photo for the Fiddesbeg portacabin Robbie Aye there is more to this match ploughing caper than meets the eye. Dave Carnegie made it all sound so simple at the Grampian Supermatch when he said there are only three things to remember.....STRAIGHTNESS, BLACKNESS and UNIFORMITY.....all very well when said quickly from a past World Champion. The good thing about Dave he is keen to pass on his knowledge and help and encourage especially the younger ploughers like Danny Forbes from Newmachar who was only ploughing at his fourth match and next to and in the same class as Dave.
