Old Ford
Having never made an open silage pit on ford fard for winter, only had an empty one or one being filled. I thought i'd have a go. Have used the silage stuff from Mandy

Lady Ferguson
I cannot believe how well that's come out Mark - I think I told you it was Clifford Bateson's idea (he'd used the same stuff for his clamp). Your clamp looks better than mine though :'(

Lady Ferguson
Did you do anything special to the flock to make it look so real?

Old Ford
thanks guys :) going to put the other one in now. Have use celox roofing insulation at 100mm. Then added the top curve , pinned with c00k tail sticks. Then cut small bits from the front , to look like a loader and grab has cut into the pit. Then painted the front with a mix of green, brown and black paint. Then with watered down PVA coated the rest, to stop the dust. When dry painted the front with watered down PVA. Then put Mandys Silage stuff on, and sealed with pva spray. Oh i did cut it in half so later on take out the back part , then move the front back so it look like the pit is being used up. Old Ford
Did you do anything special to the flock to make it look so real? No not really Mandy, did try to build it up a bit to get layers. Cutting the back about helped i think.
Old Ford
Here is the other one had to patch up a bit at the top, hence the to white bits. Will dry back clear.

Tractorman810
blimey that looks good mark, wonder if a nice hay stack could be made from a similar method, know i did small bales, but a stack would look great
Old Ford
Thanks guys :) i think you could do a hay stack Sean, if you mark out the layers with a saw cut. cut out hollows and bumps and with a twist to the stack. mm got me thinking now. just have to wait on Mandy now
