Barry
I asked this elsewhere, but thought i'd get a better chance of an answer starting a newtopic Why are some JD cab roofs yellow? What is XE series? Wish i knew how to change the topic heading as ive missed an e off Deere!!!
MDFord
The only Sg2 cab roofs that were yellow when new were fitted to the XE series of tractors. These were an economy spec version, gear sticks on floor between legs etc, of the 4 cyl 40 series (1640, 2040S & 2140) available in 2 and 4wd. 10xx Combines had the yellow sg2 roof panel fitted as well. Jdeere6910
I'm pretty sure we had a 3140 with a yellow roof a long time ago, not certain though
B O R
All XE,s were fitted with a yellow roof but its also been said that JD fitted surplus yellow roofs to non XE models to use up batches of them which adds to confusion

tractorboy
As MDFord says, the last farm I worked on had a 2040 with yellow topped sg cab on it & she had floor grears and seem a low spec tractor compared to the 1640 & 3040 we had
