I bet you are itching to get her out to a show before the season ends. As for a synchro, one will turn up to complete the collection, then you will have to start saving for that JWD, or a 4100. Cheers Martin, Aye be good to let her have an appearance somewhere before the shows are over for this year.... mmmm sounds as though you know something that i don't be it a Synchro, a 4100 or a JWD
Valley Axe Man
Update on the 804, had a few hours up the shed and had dash out to cure the split feed pipe to the clutch master cylinder, job done and wheel slave cylinders removed for new seals after i noticed they'd started weeping abit... Dash in, Dash out, pipe pointed at, get the brake cylinders back on tomorrow then can try and make a start on the minor jobs on the 345
Popular Post Valley Axe Man
Another day up at the shed yesterday, this time to set about a couple of known faults on the 3/45, 2 in the form of missing front engine mount bolts that after investigation 1 appeared to have sheared off and the other had pulled its threads, so after a cup of coffee weighing the job up, best plan i though would be whip bonnet and radiator out to gain access then drill the offending snapped bolt and try an easy-out. then bore both out and go up a bolt size to 5/8UNF, anyhow as the Nuffield needed to be in the workshop i had the chance to get the 3 together for a collection photo excuse the 802 in the middle.... that's still a work in progress job, mechanically done now its a bit of welding on the cab then wiring and paint and the little finishing bits..... Valley Axe Man
So on with the job in hand, Nuffield in and panels off, radiator out and attempt at getting the snapped bolt out.... she was quite co-operative in getting stripped back, although the Radiator didn't look in too good of condition once out......that might be a good thing though, as time spent sorting that now might save a lot of hassle later on as the 3/45 and it's bigger brother 4/65 were both known not to be the most efficient coolers with the diesel tank sat right in front of the rad impeeding a decent airflow, anyhow a few photo's Victory... nowt feels better than winning over a snapped stud or bolt
844john
That's very true Paul, trouble is I'm usually the one that does the snapping! They'll make a lovely group when you get the 802 finished!

Cheers John, aye i've snapped a few in my time too but it's learning the tricks to get them out... i find a slightly duller drill bit when opening them up for the extractor creates a bit more heat gently away and if you lash abit of easing oil around the threads whilst its warm it helps penetrate better, though good extractors that get a good grip are helpfull too

Popular Post Valley Axe Man
A run out with the 804 up to Chipping Ag show yesterday, cracking day in the sun and busy with folk too, brakes seem spot on since i re-sealed the slaves , Next job will be to get the 345 mobile again..... Had JMD's shining 8340 nearby for company and a rather nice original working clothes Bray that i spent a bit of time admiring one or two well turned out tractors just a pity they were well packed in to a small area. Field was a bit sticky in places and by the time the parade had been it had cut up fairly well in the arena entrance. The 4wd 996 got best restored, Jim Smiths original Nuffield Universal got best unrestored, the 1455 and Bray both got third in classes, second spots went to a 35x and an E27n
Popular Post Valley Axe Man
Was the local charity roadrun yesterday, along with John (JMD) and his 8340 i took the 804 out and we headed off towards the coast and then a return back to Chipping so far making £800 We stopped to regroup looking out over Morecambe Bay and the sad thought of how many old Nuffields and Leylands had ended their days on shrimping and cockling duties on the sands, and every day is a school day as they say, we all learnt that the tide comes in pretty close and quick at Condor Green, as when these lads parked up for the beef dinner they'd parked on grass, but Mark gave them a handy help back to the tractors to save getting wet boots

Cheers Martin i somehow knew you'd appreciate the photo of John's 83 and my 04, although your 78 and John's 83 would make a good photo Aye would have said it was a bit of a shock, we were stood outside the pub and one of the lads came back up the road and said tide had come in, so we wandered off down to see, could have been worse and salt water not the best of stuff

Thanks Justin She done well on the run, not bad on diesel over a decent distance, but saying that wasn't running too hard, moreso when following a 175 fergy with a really steady pilot.... 2nd high was too low and 3rd high too high.... could have done with a splitter and gone for 2.5 high haha.... although when i got back i knocked the right hand brake off another flat on the adjuster, she just started to grab a little like they weren't quite in balance, but again nowt to serious than only comes to light with use

Popular Post Valley Axe Man
Had a run over to the Hodder Valley Show yesterday, A bit of a mini road run for the 15 miles to the show and back, with David (DM434) as a pilot on hand for the 3/45, and myself on my 804 along with Dave "Dodgy" in his Fastrac as beacon man at the back we set off and were making good progress although liftpump issues on the 3/45 put the brakes on, investigation showed it's passing the diaphram so unable to pump enough at more than tickover, i know the filters are all good as they were changed and pencil filter in tank washed when i serviced her, just a case of mechanical failure, but anyhow out came the tow strap and we carried on to the show, behind the 804, got her running steady for the parade but David had to be rescued by a passing Dexta on his way back to the vintage section. Still a good day despite the problems but got her towed back and backed in the shed for a look at the pump today..... Sun rise over the cowshed.....

Valley Axe Man
Bit of an update, Liftpump repaired on the 345 but wasn't quite happy with performance after noticing a bit of water loss so had her backed in the shed and whipped her top off, to investigate further..... found a slight blow on the head gasket and also a couple of not quite as tight head bolts as the others, anyhow new gasket had and torqued up, need an hour now to get her bonnet back on
