Stabliofarmer Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Went to Aberystwyth yesterday to go and pick up my brothers new toy. A 1954 Fordson Major woth Muledozer blade. I think he's planning on doing it up abit to aid his CV for an apprenticeship at BAE systems. Personally think he should paint it Grey and Orange to fit in with my models sadly he doesn't agree, he want to go dark blue and white. Anyway, after seemingly taking a straight line from Whitchurch to Aberystwyth over mountains and down very narrow lanes we arrived at a house, where we were then taken to the 'quarry', expecting a little bit of a dug out hill we were quite blown away when this rather atmospheric place appeared with his tractor sat in the bottom Back at a friends yard and one very happy brother, even if he did crash it
Valley Axe Man Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Nice toy your brothers got there James look forward to seeing more of it, I can recommend Agriline for parts their service is fantastic
Valley Axe Man Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 How's your brother getting on with his Major, James?
Stabliofarmer Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 Sat exactly where we parked her in a friends yard in Whitchurch exactly how we bought her. He has his driving test at the end of February so is hoping to be able to travel and do some to it there. That or we may be bringing it back up to a container nearer home. It is all traction engine at the moment, currently have 7 with the latest acquisitions a 4" MacLaren Road Loco and 4 1/2" Wallis and Stevens roller complete with new boiler that needs all the parts swapping over.
Stabliofarmer Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 The Mac The Wallis ft. One demented/excited looking brother
Valley Axe Man Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Hope your brother does well and passes his test James, and then hopefully make a bit of progress with his major but hell, Seven!! that's some collection that your having now of small scale steam.... do you think you'll reach double figures?
Stabliofarmer Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 We have been buying to sell largely to be honest Paul. There's three that are definitely staying which is the first red Garrett, the Burrell we're having built which is running on compressed air now and the Mac. The rest will get sold on, there seems to be a buyer for the blue Garrett, we have a Foster which should sell well and a free lance which we've just re-tubed. Just a case of waiting till next rally season when people are buying. Theres a couple of other engines taking our fancy though including a Fowler ploughing engine in Germany so theres the possibility of double figures yet
