I've found grouting works well if you get the flexi stuff it goes off fast as well east to miss a d work with you could get loads of different finishes and could scribe it the day after as its still soft. That sounds good might have to have a go at that, you’ve got your concrete spot on. This is my attempt, plaster, sand, pigments and water. I put some mesh fabric to bind it all together so it can be broken up. Then sanded it all down. Its got some cracks in it as well .It's done it its self, but not broken away. Its rought when I put the tamping lines in with a scraper, but I sand it down to remove the rough stuff. I bought two Backscenes before I found a decent one and mucked one up when sticking it so I’ve got another one coming but should resolve the problem I’ve decided to add a stream and a slight hill so using polystyrene as a sort of base to carve into.
