Anderson Agri Posted April 4, 2019 Author Posted April 4, 2019 I must admit i've not seen another yellow one in person before, i know they're scarce but so is the 154 in general, although a fair few in my area. Hopefully it'll be a talking point at future events with its quirks and features. 1 Quote

I think the 154 Narrow is the rarest of the 154's Zac, but like you say the 154 is a lot less common than the grey fergy which in essence is like for like although more the 154's predecessor, the 9/16 or 4/25 BMC Nuffy Mini's Quote
Anderson Agri Posted April 5, 2019 Author Posted April 5, 2019 I got a couple of pictures this afternoon of them whilst I was up there. As you can see they are not the prettiest looking so I'm going to respray them again 5 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted April 14, 2019 Author Posted April 14, 2019 Another project, a Ransomes Finger Bar Mower which is in need of full restoration, currently at work waiting for me to collect at some point then the real work begins.. 5 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 If anyones in the area this weekend. I will be taking the 7710 and the ED-40 up to The Abbey Hill Steam Rally in Yeovil, the challenger was meant to go but still not running due to the rotor arm on distributor cab shorting out so the ED-40 is coming instead. Alternatively the 7710 will be up at The Big Ford Working Day on Monday! Come and say hello if you see me Quote
mb86 Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Your collection is growing very nicely Zac, really like your 77, looking forward to some photos around the net of her working. 1 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted May 10, 2019 Author Posted May 10, 2019 It was a bit of a funny weekend really. Both tractors performed effortlessly at Abbey Hill and had a Fantastic 3 days up there. Even got snapped in the ring! It was all going well until 300 yards from Dave Allen Transport's yard. I went up a hill with the 77 and Bomford Superflow on behind. Then lost all drive near top of the hill. Managed to limp it into his yard and onto the lorry but the monday morning it wouldn't drive itself off the lorry and had to be towed off using a 7910 The backend had dumped all of its oil out somewhere as it was bone dry. It now still wont drive and had to be pushed back on, so it did make it to Wiltshire, but it stayed hidden around the back of the farm and not on show. The 5 mile tow home lead to the right hand brake failing as well as the power steering becoming weak before going.. And to top it all off we overtook it on Monday on the A303 to find the right hand side had a flat tyre.. Just what i needed on a bank holiday. Luckily a mobile tyre fitter was on site and got me back on all 4 and didn't even charge the callout fee for bank holidays! Proper... Now the expensive bit to come with a suspected sheared input shaft and knackered clutch as well as requiring 2 new back tyres its all starting to add up. Although it will be better to have a fully working tractor that is going to last me a long while.. These things happen 7 Quote
robbo Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Ooh nasty, Fix Or Repair Daily as they say. Only joking, it's sad to see the old girls having trouble Quote
Valley Axe Man Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 That's turned into an expensive weekend there Zac, but you only find faults with using, if it was just sat in the shed all year round you'd have never have known, but like you say go through her now and do a proper job then you'll know you can walk away from her, and she's good for anything then, it's annoying doing a job twice if you didnt go far enough the first time.... i learnt that one by experience good luck with the re-build and repairs bud 1 Quote
844john Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 (edited) Sad to hear all that Zac, the joys of owning anything on wheels! The sheared input shaft I believe is a common problem on older Fords, especially ones that have done a lot of shaft work.....I had one go whilst power harrowing with the 7810 a couple of years ago, the chap who's owns it had been working her all morning, I jumped on to give him a spell and managed literally 100 yards up the field and it gave out.... As Paul said, fix it right the first time and you can forget about her. Edited May 11, 2019 by 844john bloody auto correct! 1 Quote
mb86 Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Not what you wanted Zac but such things happen with older kit, not that new gear is any more reliable, at least you don't need a whizz kid with a laptop at £70/hr to tell you what's wrong with it. . The hub stripped on my TW a couple of years ago, as others have said do the job right and it'll last. Have a good look around while you are in there, mine got a clutch, all new seals in the DP, replaced the Durotor pump and rebuilt the PTO brake as well as a few other bits and pieces while she was split. Your clutch and steering shouldn't be related to the input shaft though, seems strange they all went together. 1 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted May 14, 2019 Author Posted May 14, 2019 Cheers all Been so busy at silage haven't been on much. We had a look on Friday and the power steering is working just it was getting weak whilst idling, could be on the way out but still fully functioning just needs a bit of revs to get the pressure back up. The hydraulics are also working which means the input shaft potentially is alright as the pump is driven from that side i believe. Which could put it down to either clutch plate or the clutch pack. Will have to get it split and find out, as @mb86 has said i'll do all necessary work whilst in there for the sake of £200 may aswell put a new clutch in. I've got a ballpark figure to go by the recent sales of these in similar condition so i've a bit of money to play with without losing out completely. Considering the one at Rodney Cowle's sale made £11800 inc all vat and commission. I didn't pay anywhere near that. 2 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted May 18, 2019 Author Posted May 18, 2019 Productive day yesterday for once. Got the proper wheels back on the 154 and the Finger bar mower ready for the hay, surpringly it was all free moving and only took a bit of grease and a new pto to be working! Not bad for being hedgerow for 10 years. Also managed to clear away the brambles behind my shed to make a little compound to park machinery as it was dumped everywhere at present. Just need some fencing to enclose it and some hardcore. 8 Quote
Popular Post Anderson Agri Posted June 28, 2019 Author Popular Post Posted June 28, 2019 Been a bit quiet recently, although i've cut my field for hay and will be baled tomorrow. I had time to go to a local auction today and didn't leave empty handed. A 1985 Marshall 802 has now joined my collection. Overall its a tidy tractor and lovely sounding and to drive, just needs a little fettling and tidying but i got it for a good price so i can't be too picky. Will be coming home tomorrow and put straight to work on the baler! 13 Quote
mb86 Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 That looks tidy zac, a set of front weights with it too. How are the 7710 repairs coming along? Quote
Anderson Agri Posted June 28, 2019 Author Posted June 28, 2019 Weights are worth a bit alone, 77 is still in his yard and hasn't been looked at yet as they've been so busy. hopefully will be pretty soon as i'd like it back for harvest 2 Quote
Valley Axe Man Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 Nice addition there Zac looks tidy enough cosmetically and all it's glass in place, i'd say thats a better buy than the 804 you sent me photo's of a while back. They do sound well does a 4/98 turbo, even at low revs they give a little whistle, hope she a good one for you and you enjoy the baling...... That'll be yet another bay going on the tractor shed build then Quote
Anderson Agri Posted June 29, 2019 Author Posted June 29, 2019 Totally agree Paul it's a lot better than that 704 and was over half the price! I'm still yet to finish the shed I have ket alone adding more. Although 4 tractors wont fit atm and I now have 2 more and a baler to find space along with all the hay ha ha!!! 1 Quote
Tractorman810 Posted June 29, 2019 Posted June 29, 2019 another bay on the shed paul?? ore like just go and buy a farm more like so whats next, a front loader ? find a nice one to fit the marshall maybe Quote

Anderson Agri Posted June 29, 2019 Author Posted June 29, 2019 Had it collected this morning by Dave Allen Transport and got it home fine. I'm really chuffed kts a gutsy little tractor and has been put straight to work. Needs a little tidying but nothing that cant be done. Few pics of it 8 Quote
Popular Post Anderson Agri Posted June 29, 2019 Author Popular Post Posted June 29, 2019 Straight to work on the baler, did my little field with poor yield then I got called out to do 150 bales at 8pm this evening. Had it on a Ford 5030 tho then as I didn't have enough fuel on me. Going back out tomorrow to do another 300 bales with it 10 Quote

Anderson Agri Posted June 29, 2019 Author Posted June 29, 2019 Cost me 3x as much to be delivered from Teignmouth. Chap brought it up for me. Itll be a shame to ruin the 154 being so low hours and original but I cant argue with price and itll be handy and will take off for shows Quote
Anderson Agri Posted June 30, 2019 Author Posted June 30, 2019 Had the ED-40 out collecting bales this afternoon. 6 Quote
