Anderson Agri Posted July 26, 2019 Author Posted July 26, 2019 Went to see the 7710 this evening as they've had a chance to look at it. Verdict not as bad as first thought. Clutch is in 6 pieces its disintegrated and input shaft badly worn. So.new shaft and clutch needed aswell as new seals in the Dual power going in. Hopefully will be done for yesterdays farming on 17th 18th august where all my tractors are booked in 5 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 Bit of a positive (ish) update from today. Proper 3 rib tyres put back on the front and repainted the wheels. Bit rough up close but its totally transformed the tractor i'm really pleased. 8 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 Ford on the other hand is a different story. What had happened when i lost all drive is that the clutch exploded into 6 pieces which then in turn caused the dual power to explode which decided to go through the side of the gearbox! Has had to have new dual power, most of the gearbox, input shaft, new clutch and flywheel and all of its pto and hydraulic gears replaced as they were badly worn. The mechanic that has worked on it said its the worst ever failure he's seen in his 30 years of working on fords.. Big bill incoming!! 1 5 Quote
mb86 Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Oh dear that isn't good Zac, I can't believe how much damage has been done. Quote
Anderson Agri Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 Its a bit of a mess to say the least! They found more in the gearbox today, needs all new needle bearings as they've welded themselves together. The tractor has evidently done a lot of work, especially on the PTO. It'll be like triggers broom soon as its had a replacement engine too!! 1 1 Quote
844john Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 She certainly is a bit of a mess Zac, on a positive note though once she's put back together she should be like new, I doubt you'll ever have to look inside her again. Much better than a lot of tractor restorations that have nice shiny paintwork but the important bits underneath haven't been touched......put them back to use and a lot wouldn't stand a hard days work 2 Quote
Valley Axe Man Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Agree with you there John, at least Zac can set to in anger knowing she's a fit tractor for a bit of hard graft, done once done right, job done and forget about it. 1 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted August 16, 2019 Author Posted August 16, 2019 Well its finally here. It's the weekend of Yesterdays Farming. Weather cant dampen spirits and 300 tractors expected to turn up. 5 out of 6 of my tractors are currently on site the ford didnt make it for obvious reasons. Should be a good weekend! 6 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted August 17, 2019 Author Posted August 17, 2019 Fantastic first day at the show. Never stopped talking lot of interest in the challenger at its first public appearance in the south. Same again tomorrow 9 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted September 6, 2019 Author Posted September 6, 2019 Russells Root drill aquired today to go behind the challenger. Also been to see the Ford which is still poorly. Backend is all rebuilt and running well now moved onto brakes which have thrown more gremlins up. Whole new brake system required.. More money Its destined for a local road run next week for its maiden voyage fingers crossed it'll be finished. 3 Quote

Anderson Agri Posted September 6, 2019 Author Posted September 6, 2019 I think its just something put together for it, it looks like an old drill trailer. Pretty handy really it saves a lot of time having to move it onto another one. Didnt manage to use it this year as wasnt needed but it was well worth the £50 extra if it saves that bit of time 1 Quote

Anderson Agri Posted October 5, 2019 Author Posted October 5, 2019 Bit of an update for this month. After 5 long months the 7710 has returned and is now fully fixed. Took the 7710, 802 and Ed40 to a new show up at a local pub today and had a good time! Also the 154 has now moved on to a new life up in Falkirk in Scotland so a fair distance away. Shame for it to go but needs must 8 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 Well i be buggered! The 77 managed to get a rosette in its honor in 3rd place in the category most want to take home by judge! Just beaten by a 1594 2wd and a 135. Happy enough with that! 7 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted October 20, 2019 Author Posted October 20, 2019 Well with the 154 gone I had a space to fill. And this very original and lovely Nuffield Universal 4 is just what I've been after for ages! What a cracking looking thing 8 Quote
Ferret90 Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 That is a tidy purchase Zac, has it got a Perkins or BMC engine in it? I would like one one day when I've made a bit more space haha 1 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted October 20, 2019 Author Posted October 20, 2019 Has the BMC. Even still had the original badge on the grille. Put it straight to work and did a bit of ploughing to clear it out 4 Quote
844john Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 Certainly looks a nice original example Zac! 1 Quote
robbo Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 The Valley Axe Man is going to be sooo jealous of you now 3 1 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted November 16, 2019 Author Posted November 16, 2019 Wow how time flies. The Challenger had been in my collection for a year now. Bit gutted how little it got out this year but next year I've big plans 5 Quote
Anderson Agri Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 Some 18.4 38s fitted to the 7710 today, much better than the original 16.9s gone from 45k to 50k on road aswell now 8 Quote
844john Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Looks well on her new boots Zac. Has she been "tweaked" at all, all the older Fords that I've driven have only done around 20mph, which i believe was the standard 32k box, but she obviously does a lot more! Quote
