walsh35
I have a room approx. 12ftx7 and hope to build a diorama. my question is which would be best a central base with access from all sides or to build off the walls all around the room and access from the centre I cant seem to make my mind up whats everyones thoughts
Laois 1:32
I would have a base in the middle as it means you can have a good sized yard, field, etc. Otherwise along the walls it's long and narrow if you get me. Just make sure that you can reach at least half way across the board in the middle if you're doing it that way.
Tractorman810
any windows in that room? would make a difference to which way to go. i wouldnt really want to build under a window in direct sunlight, would bleach anything colour wise over time. plus if it gets really hot, even melt or soften stuff. walsh35
1 small 18"square window only not facing the sun directly
Tractorman810
thats not so bad, personally i would prob go round the sides on 3 sides of the room, maybe making the back short edge/side on twice as deep pushing the sides out as far as poss depending on the door location. bit like mine in the loft, beauty is having walls behind, you can hid them with backdrop posters, give the effect of distance then, one thing i cant do as my roof pitch is a bit to shallow. will allow for easy acess to everything then,
Paul Palmer
I built off the walls with access from the centre,i don't thing there is a right or wrong way really
FendtFarmer
Like mention above, I’d build off the walls all the way around so you have a base that’s 2foot deep, allows you have a wide variety of yard, scenes etc, just limits you if you want big farm buildings though
fendtenator
I have built mine around the outside as well, I use a caravan step in my space in the middle, which lets me have a wider base as when I stand on the step I can reach further over easily.
