Site well levelled and cleared, now breaking and removing old concrete which will be too high for the new shed. It's also badly cracked and in need of repairing. We'll be ready to start foundations first thing in the morning.

Do you mean the 4CX backhoe?

Yes. Sorry I'm only getting back.. I had one for one of the children a good few years ago which gave him far more play value than a Britain's.. It was mostly plastic but it lasted for ages and it looked great and the buckets stayed up really well after play.

Yep that sounds about right. It is probably a bit off scale but as you said it is a great model and will last forever.

Fantastic yard mate looks a very busy one. Do you make the gates yourself? What do you use to make the hinges? I'm collecting extra long plastic lollipop sticks that I buy my kid to have a go at making some my self.

Thanks. I make all the gates myself using wooden bbq skewers for the gate and post and then I cut up the spring from a clothes peg to use it as the hinges.

But I suppose its letting tour mind think of how to create things I'm even collecting wooden lollipop sticks off the kids. ha ha! anyway great work your doing keep it up.

Yes, I try to save money where I can. Often times some model suppliers don't even make exactly what I need so it's generally easier just to make it yourself to your exact specifications. I find that looking through other people's work really does help. Also you will probably find that you will make something now and then in a couple of months or years time you may come up with a better way of doing it.

It's been all go at the contractors yard the past few weeks and days. The plant side of the business is very busy and the men have decided to invest in yet another tracked machine:ph34r:. Meanwhile the agri lads have invested in quite a lot more equipment, including a claas rake, two kuhn tedders, a kverneland mower, and a small buckrake for whenever they do their own pit silage. They've been busy getting all the new machinery sussed out, as well as getting the older gear ready to rock.

Excellent work. Splashing the cash.

Did you make the ifor williams stickers your self or buy them. I've just bought a britains logic quad traile and want it to look like the ifor williams p6e. With stickers and wheels.

Thanks. I made all of the ifor williams stickers myself as well as all of the other stickers for my scratchbuilds.

Still busy in this part of the world, grounds lads got their new tracked machine this week and have it ready for a job tomorrow. The agri lads have started getting the gear ready for silage now with all of the dung out and most of the fertiliser out for now. They're getting a few loads of old fill taken out of their yard to make a bit more space for parking their continually growing fleet.

Still working away here on the layout, always changing things and adding things. Last night I decided to take out my old britains shed, for a few reasons; firstly it was in a bad space in the yard and the whole yard was generally to tight for machinery, secondly it just looked a bit out of place with it being all plastic and the rest of my sheds being homemade, and thirdly I will be making a 5 bay beef unit next year as a school project and I hope to incorporate that into my layout whenever it is finished. Obviously I can't have everything so I decided that getting rid of this shed was the best option. The shed is currently for sale so feel free to make me an offer.

nice updates, be interesting to see the beef unit, cant say i have seen one that i know of, plenty of general dairy barns .

Thanks Sean. They're a common sight in real life around Ireland here and I'm looking forward to getting it built and put onto the layout.

Still kept busy here, the farmers are hoping to get their first cut silage in this week so they've been busy getting all of their gear ready. They run a fairly classic outfit, with the two case 1056xl tractors and a ford 4000 and a jcb tm310s on the pit. They took off the pickup reel on their harvester to check things over and replace a few bearings.
