SPN
It's 1991 and the Intrac is being replaced after 15 years. The Fendt 360GT takes on the system tractor role. The Fendt 309 is also being replaced and the decision is to go with a slope nosed DX4.57 with front linkage
robbo
I do like the flexibility of your fleet, you are prepared to experiment and explore new ideas whilst others become fixated on one particular brand
justy 46
I have never seen one off them Fendt GTs in the flesh. They look a very odd yet interesting tractor. It baffles me how they squeeze the engine in under the cab . It must be hard to access and tricky to work on... Does the cab tip forward for access..?? SPN
In late 1999 a review is conducted and it is decided that there is no a need to upgrade any of the tractors on the fleet at Milltown House. They are all doing their jobs well and their drivers are happy. The toolcarrier, 762H and 1490 are all given a full overhaul at their respective dealers and come back in showroom condition. Meanwhile at at Newpark, their review sees them getting two new Fendts in 2000 and the dealer makes a very good offer to trade the Milltown DX4.57 for a run-out Fendt 509C as part of the deal, so there is one new tractor at Milltown after all. SPN
A big change in the late 90s was the move to silage wagons as this allowed much more flexibility for operators to go and do other tasks through the day without compromising the operation. Finish milking the cows, jump on a wagon. Bring the kids to school, jump on the loader. Deliver a load of vegetables to the wholesaler, jump on a second wagon. No college classes in the morning, spend a couple of hours on the mower. Total flexibility. Here's one of a pair of Fendt Vario 818 and Pottinger Europrofis which would have harvested the silage at the group farms in the mid to late noughties
SPN
In 2010 the County 762H was retired and a New Holland T6020 took on the high clearance row crop work In 2011 the MF860 took a back seat when a new JCB TM310 was purchased for loading grain and other materials handling
SPN
Also in 2011, the Fendt 509C was replaced with a Fendt 211 Vario and the DB1490 was finally replaced with a Fendt 209F which is much more compact and gives new options for mechanising work in the hothouses and orchards

SPN
Abbeylands Farm: Abbeylands is a 530 acre organic tillage farm with about 150 acres under grass/clover fertility building each year. A herd of organic Angus cattle and organic Suffolk sheep are grazed on this land to bring in an income and to help with fertility and weed suppression strategies. In 2017 the company adopted a Climate Action Strategy to become Carbon Neutral by 2030 and the farm at Abbeylands purchased a fleet of older tractors and a combine which have been modified to run on straight rapeseed oil. Since 2018 all operations at Abbeylands have been performed using biofuel powered machinery. )

SPN
Castlebridge Beef Unit: Prior to going organic in 2016, Castlebridge Farm had operated a large beef finishing unit capable of feeding 600 head of cattle. Since 2018 this has been operated on a much smaller scale as an organic beef unit by an existing organic beef farmer under a system where his 200 acre farm is integrated into the crop rotation system used at Castlebridge. He has expanded his herd and he uses the beef sheds and facilities at Castlebridge for wintering them. His fleet comprises a 1985 International 956XL, 2014 Fendt 313 Vario, 2015 Caterpillar TH407C telehandler,
