CX820Joe Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 The top link on the front of this Valtra 163 is way too long I think. It looks like it is easily removable by undoing the screw but can you buy replacements, one which is hopefully shorter?
catkom3 Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 If you have a model boat shop near you Joe they should stock what they call Turnbuckles or Bottlescrews, made of brass and adjustable for length they come in different length's and diameters, alternatively you can order them here, https://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/mantua_turnbuckles.html Regards Joe.
Fenside MF Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 I need some different top links as well,I have some different length ones from artisan but its fiddly keep swapping them about, you can get some from farmmodels.nl but obviously price is the factor ordering from europe now,and I don't know of anyone in the u.k selling top links. Joes turnbuckles are the answer and reasonable price, although being picky they look a bit big in the middle section of them but theres not much alternative.I might make myself a hydraulic type one which will slide and will post up if successful.
catkom3 Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 No Jamie they are spot on, I should have said the 12mm are perfect for front top link's, here's a photo of one of mine, I took a razor tooth saw and removed about 1 third of one of the rings so it could fit on the top hitch, Click / tap three times for full sized image, Regards Joe.
Fenside MF Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 looks perfect in your picture Joe so will have some of them thank you. Just a thought on that valtra link, you could probably take a modeling knife and cut out a few mm in the middle, then drill in two real small metal rods and glue back together, save buying one maybe
