robbo
Out of curiosity Gav, as the machine uses water does that not just stimulate regrowth?
Gav836
No, it only uses 330ml per metre so not enough to have that effect on them. Works out to around 1200-1300 litres a hectare which is nothing really when it comes to watering a crop.
Gav836
Spent the last week in Devon putting one of these Enorossi Batrake 12’s together ready to go to it’s new home. They come in in the crates behind it and are like a giant Meccanno kit!
Gav836
Brought this lump back down to Devon yesterday, Isuzu knew it was towing it 😂 Valentini Atena 3m wide stone burier. Bit like a rotovator only the rotor runs backwards and throws the soil and stones against a tine grill so stones drop onto ground under the loose soil.

We tend to just do the 10 bale version but can also do 8 and 12 bale accumulators and grabs.
Gav836
Set this up this new Valentini 3.3m Apollo Rotavator for a customer in Dorset today, too wet to do much with it but certainly done a good job in the cover crop where we did test it out.
Gav836
Assembled this Tubeline in-line bale wrapper this week with my colleagues ready for it to be delivered to his customer. Arrived in a container on Tuesday and we’ve had to assemble everything from the bed upwards on it.

Gav836
Started a new job today having left AMIA after two years there. Much closer to home this time with no nationwide travelling involved. I’m now working for an agricultural engineering firm at Lakenheath in Suffolk building the machinery sales side of the business with some of the same franchises I’ve been working with for the past two years. Hopefully be some pictures to come in the next few weeks of goings on at the company.

Gav836
It’s now over four months since I started my latest job and I have to say I’m loving it. It has been an interesting four months to say the least with big developments in the company. We are currently in the process of moving to new premises with better facilities to aid the companies growth, in doing so we are taking on assisting Scanstone with the parts and service in the area. The past two weeks have been spent moving our stock from one side of the village to the other. For those locals on here that know Lakenheath we are moving to the current Scanstone premises from the Beck Row end. To say the move has been a challenge is an understatement thanks to me still recovering from Covid and a few other factors but we are getting there now. A few pictures of our new site and shop….my labelling machine has never worked so hard!! All being well we should have our first machines in stock within 7-10 days too. We thought that as we were expanding a new logo was required, hopefully it’s nice and eye catching beside the main road!
Gav836
I’ve moved again due to an unfortunate change of circumstances for my now former employer. I’m now working for Nicholsons Stalham Engineering covering my home area in Norfolk for them along with the west of the county. As the locals will know, they are a long established family company who hold the Case IH, Weidemann, Bednar, Pottinger and McHale franchises either for a section of Norfolk or the entire county depending on the one in question. As part of this we were requested to be at Cereals this week to take a look at the New Case IH Optum 340, as Bednar were also close by it gave us a chance to see a range of the machines working too.

Gav836
We took a Pottinger Rotocare out on demonstration to a customer yesterday afternoon, it uses rotary wheels with spoon shaped tines to remove weeds and also aerate the soil. It works best at speeds of 20-30kph. IMG_4730.MOV IMG_4729.MOV
Gav836
Taken this Pottinger V6000 wave disc drill out on demonstration with our Puma 240 CVX today drilling cover crops, perfect conditions for it. Popular Post Gav836
It’s been a case of new year, new job for me. I left the world of machinery sales at the end of December 2023 and have gone back to working on the farm full time. I’m now working on a 750ha arable farm which is heavily involved in trials work partnering with several different organisations to do this. So far I’ve spent quite a bit of time in the workshop, ditching, sugarbeet carting, hedge cutting and most recently ploughing. There are three tractors on the farm, New Holland T7.225 & T7.270 plus a John Deere 7310R. Spraying is carried out with a Bateman RB26.

phil phoenix
Sorry to hear it didn't work out at Case Gav. I have no idea what local market share Case Nicholson's have around their area, but around Ely & district its single figures %wise. I suspect that John Deere, Fendt & New Holland hold over 80% between the three of them, with the rest picking up a few sales each. Good luck with the new job wherever it is.
