A neighbouring farm changed hands a year back ,the new owners have had roughly  100 acres drained ,they laid a main 9 inch pipe across one of my fields to take some of the water down to a main watercourse that we cleaned out last year

While the weather was good we have done a good bit of this ,we are about 3or 4 weeks early on this but grass needed cutting as it was dying off ,some fields the bale count was only about 50 down but some other bits was between  200 to 300 bales down , I still have 5 small fields to cut so hopefully this rain might put on a bit of growth

Last week as it was wet I built a set of shelfs and put some of my vintage spare parts on them in the shed/garage that I keep my major in ,I also laid a path beside the shed with some second hand pavers that have been around the farm about 10years

Looks Tidy Martin, are you going to give tipps a bit of competition?

I don’t know about competition John but I might have to show them how it’s done. ;)
Is that an early TM or a 60 series carting?

Nice straight rows you have made there John ,looks a decent bit of grass and dry ground conditions .

Thanks Smithy, yes it was a good crop, but like you say the ground is still as hard as concrete

Nothing wrong with a bit of old school gear Martin, one word best sums it up....reliability. I spent most of the yesterday warming the seat on the 78, but when we started drawing back from Wolsingham i went on the 7050 to lead off the forager. However, after a few loads the wheel speed sensor started playing up causing the gearbox to be somewhat confused, so thankfully i got back on the rake....why anyone would want to bounce around all day leading trailers is beyond me, but then maybe I'm just getting older:D

Yes, it's a TM, a 150 I believe, the one on the red trailer is Tipp's old 7040 that was out on loan to the lad who has the TM, that 7040 has had a hard life mind!

proper old school there Smithy, it looks very tidy mind! Doesn't look a bad crop either.....I'm guessing the bit missed in the first picture is for when you put the cows in afterwards.....that's always been my excuse anyway!:D

It was good fun at the time but did not do my hay fever any good my eyes are still watering this morning :( the bit I missed there John I got next time around ,that was a very tight corner and I was doing  my best to not use the clutch and lose P.T.O. power :) well that's my excuse , the man on the hay turner will put the rows right ;) the crop is ok as that bit did not have any fertilizer

That’s the trouble John, bloody electronics. At least with the older gear if you have a fault it doesn’t usually stop the machine, the 78 could have lost all its electrics and still would have kept going all day. Have to admit I don’t mind the odd day carting grass but not if it involves a long trek on the roads.
That lad is brave considering tips 7040, is that the one that has had gearbox problems in the past? Mind I say brave, there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity...:D
