I have finally dared to open the box and make a start on this tractor, there are far more bits than I thought that there would be and it takes time to even find the part that you need next.

It is going to be a slow process but hopefully worth it in the end. As I mentioned when I bought this kit I have been collecting models since 2006 and never before attempted anything like this before.

I went to see JDC when he was still farming and saw his collection, he did me a TE20 but that has been lost in the loft somewhere now

i fancy a te20 mainly as i have a loader for it, but i got a cheap uh one to convert into just not got round to it , got the mf135 wheels ready on it ,aims to reproduce this. just looks better on the bigger fronts and more modern rear rims, i have seen a pic of one on the farm but it was more original in its wheel size and hubs with a Β roll bar fittedΒ

That's a MIL (Midland Industries Ltd) loader. Always liked them. That tractor is a TEF rather than a TEA. The front track on the UH TEA20 is too narrow - they must have measured a narrow version! I have got a few Scaledown Fergies in my collection, will post some pics tomorrow.

Might not look like i have done much but, this is the result of over 3 hours yesterday afternoon adding some of the tiny engine parts to the chassis. I also had to message Nigel Ford at one point but after his advice I am now able to move on. ( I had glued one part in the wrong place so the next but didn't fit).

Edit I know that the toolbox is wonky but the glue set before I had realised.Β

A bit more this morning, the grilles are not yet glued in place as they are painted separately but I have checked that they do fit.

On to the front axle this afternoon.Β

your not going to bad there mike, especially for a first attempt at one, what glue are you using ??

I bought a kit from Nigel with mini tinlets of the paint required, a set of small files, paint brushes and superglue. I have to say that the glue is really good, it grabs within 5 seconds although I did get quite a bit on my fingers

I did the County Super Six FF

I was chuffed to bits when I completed it and I still am , one thing I learnt was that I need a lesson or 3 in painting by someone who is good , alsoΒ  I could do with some stronger glassesΒ  and maybe some smaller fingersΒ

So who knows what the FF stands for  😁

PSΒ  Β  Β  Question tho Robbo ,,,,,,,, why havent you painted the grey bits and the red bits whilst they were apart ,Β

PPSΒ  Β  Β If it was a 2 wd version I would have a model on order now

A bit of an update on this, mixed results if I am honest. My clumsiness has resulted in a number of breakages especially to the rear linkage and the hi-lo lever. Some of the smaller parts are either broken or i have not been able to get them to stay in place however, I am now letting the glue dry properly after which I will start doing some cleaning and painting before final assemblyΒ

I use a tweezers for the small parts. Takes a bit of tuning in to get the brain/hand/eye co-ordination, but limits damage and glueing your fingers together.

Check in with Nigel regarding damaged parts as he can provide replacements.

Looking good otherwise. I recall that clutch assembly being a pain in the wotsit.

That's another reason for stopping today, my fingertips are all crusty from the glue, it's going to take me all afternoon to peel it off 😁

I think I have also glued the gearstick in the wrong place, it should be further forward next to the steering box but, I can't get it off without causing damage so it might just have to stay there.

Although I have added the pto guard there is no pto shaft, it pinged off somewhere and I have't been able to find it

Great shot of the Scaledown bonnet showing the correct shape - unlike the UH 65 models!

Looks like you've broken the eye on the right hand side rear linkage Mike, That could easily be sketched up in CAD and printed in resin, Also I think you may benefit from a wee bottle of de-bonder, plenty out there to choose from,

Yes Joe, that was one of the breakages, I broke the lower arm as well trying to get a rivet through the holes. You will also see that the brake actuator, (underneath the linkage lever), isn't fully in the hole and is wonky. That meant that I couldn't get the diff lock into the second hole. All in all, I am making rather a mess of this.

Just say you are doing it on purpose for the used look, rather than "factory-fresh"Β πŸ‘πŸ˜‰

Are you finding it enjoyable is the main question.........enough to get another one?
