allis8550 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 The local toy shop in Brecon had them in stock as soon as the specialist sellers such as GFM were selling them, and the're part of the Toymaster setup. Quote

Akey Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I think all the 5000's not in the shops yet, have gone to a specialist "steering fitter"......they will not increase in price, even with front axle steering! Those who have already bought...........mmm ........."tough!" Quote
TS135A DRIVER Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Not seen any up in the far north of Scotland as yet, but that doesn't worry me as it won't be getting added to my collection now that I have seen and read the reviews on the FTF Quote
IH885XLMAN Posted July 22, 2007 Author Posted July 22, 2007 I will buy a few and decide for myself and not go by what anyone else thinks from what ive seen on here is just allot of negative feedback :'( Quote
IH885XLMAN Posted July 23, 2007 Author Posted July 23, 2007 sorry to put it so bluntly but it has not been a lot of negative feedback just some members telling it like it is , I for one am not going to rave about something which falls short on so many points .As you state get one & tell us what your opinion of it is . It is no conspiracy against Britains but you will not find review on here which praises this toy/ model , they made a better job of it 42 years ago . there where plenty of people expressing that they will not get one due to the pics posted and what other people where thinking of the said model I am just "saying it as it is" by waiting till i get one I could just get one off ebay I suppose but i thought i would support the local distributer and the price is the same if not cheaper in the shop's And there has been allot of negative feedback :'( there have also been some good feedback and a lot of good modifactions of the 5000 Also im thinking maybee this 5000 was realy ment to represent the Ford 7000 and 7600 so we will have to wait and see how that fairs realy i know about the short commings I just wish people would be as forgiving as they are to UH which also get it wrong and i cant remember ever saying "there was a conspiricy" my only rant is there are no 5000s around where i live :'( :'( Quote

The front wheels are more representative of the 7000 type and it already has the cowling under the seat for the 7000 De Luxe cab. To me the 5000 is a 7000 anyway, with 5000 decals on it. I have a plan to make up and fit a clevis drawbar similar to the real thing which will fit in the recess above the towing hook, and should look quite realistic and move the pivot point of the drawbar further back to clear the linkage when turning. I have a 5000 and an FTF 6600 which will remain boxed for ever and a day. I see no point in taking that one out of its box when the 5000 is identical and can be used or modified and easily replaced. I will probably buy another 5000 to keep boxed, lets face it they are cheap enough to buy. I will definitely buy a 7000 as it will be pretty authentic, but the 7600 wont look right with the Exhaust at the back of the bonnet. Comparing the JD 4020 to what was supposed to be the exciting tractor we were all waiting for; like them or not, there is no comparison between the authenticity of a 4020 and the 5000. The 4020 is a fantastic model for the money and I for one expected the 5000/6600 to be as good or better than that. I couldn't believe that in this day and age, a manufacturer would take such a massive step backwards. I for one would have happily paid a few dollars more to have the 5000 with steering. Don't get me wrong though, I'm happy with mine, aaaaannd........I will be buying more. P.S. I have a special place in my heart for the 4020. I drove one for a day back in the 60's. I was about fifteen and they hadn't been around that long. Compare it to what else we were driving in those days and you will know what I mean. Quote
