If they are like the Valtra C's to get the front wheels off you need to gently prise off the hub and there should be a small screw behind them, just undo it and the wheel will come off.

As for the painting, I usually take the tyres off instead of masking them by dropping the wheels in really hot water so they go soft, come off easily then :)

yeah, exactly right Sean, they slip off and on nice and easily when they've been warmed up, thats the way I do all the beet harvester wheels. I think I picked the tip up from Jason in one of his topics on here

I 've had the same trouble with the JD wheels Sean, I think its the type of plastic. They seem to be made of softer plastic like polythene ? , other wheels are harder like polystyrene and take paint much better.

they seem to hand paint ok though with nigels paint, just wont take spray???? like you say plastic type, wonder if proper red palstic primer would be better for that

Might be worth a try, one tip I heard years ago for painting model soldiers made from polythene was to undercoat with Unibond, but must admit I havn't tried it on the JD wheels.

I have used that plastic primer on wheels and found it works well although I find the filler primer works just as well :)
