FB Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 What sizes do these come in??, are they still popular?? \ just curious, the farmer i usually get pics of (the one who now has that Case instead of his JD combine), has 2 6920's but seems to go over the field with a small set of discs that seem to be no wider than the tractor, surely he would be better off with a bigger set? \ Quote
Kris Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Think ive seen a 6mtr set being used around hear about 2 years ago though now Quote
gogreengelb Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 The trailed versions take a bit of pulling Ben and it depends a lot on soil type I think only big farms on light soil would use wide ones Quote
Kris Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 I suppose it depends on the depth theyre set at also and if its to break up plughed soil or mix in the surface. Quote
Spud Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 this is a good topic over here in Austrailia we use them alot on Vegetables because they make good seedbeds we bought a Napire Grassland about 10 years ago which was a 28 plate or 24 i cant remember but that can just be pulled by a 100hp tractor with rowcrops at 6.2 kmph but they get big over here the biggest i has seen is a 92 plate i think it was it was a monster found a pic of a similar 1 Quote
Deere-est Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Ben, we pulled a 4m set of trailed Parmiters and a 4m Lynx Sumo tyre press on the back with 130hp on sandy soil through to clay, level and hilly; quite happily, that was on stubble at about 3inches. Pulling the press on ploughed ground was a bit too much though se we'd drop it off for that pass. Quote
