farmernick06 Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Hmm .. as DP said, will have to get what i want sharpish. Whys the reason for the increase in price? Quote
PDH Posted July 28, 2007 Author Posted July 28, 2007 Hmm .. as DP said, will have to get what i want sharpish. Whys the reason for the increase in price? Unfortunately it doesn't give a reason for the increase. However other diecast manufacturers who are producing models that are not farm related (E.g. Corgi) increased their prices some while ago blaming an increase in raw material costs (particularly zinc which one of the main constituents) so Siku's price increase may be for the same reason. PDH Posted July 28, 2007 Author Posted July 28, 2007 Wonder how long it will be before Britains and UH follow Siku and increase their prices as well? Quote
Tellarian Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 As Siku have a greater content of metal and durability, they are being hit by input costs... This is how Zinc is rising.. Quote
TS135A DRIVER Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 A 20% rise is a h@ll of a large jump in one go That's inflation busting Quote
Akey Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 A 20% rise is a h@ll of a large jump in one go That's inflation busting And I wonder if dealers will hold their prices on existing stock.......some hopes! Quote
nashmach Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 I guess some of it is due to the strength of the euro too.... Quote
PDH Posted July 30, 2007 Author Posted July 30, 2007 Had a chat with a couple of dealers over the weekend. The feeling is that Siku may have difficulty in making such a price hike stick particularly in the UK. So we may not see such a large price rise here in the UK. A 20% rise on UK prices would make a Siku tractor model RRP around ?25, particularly the latest release. Somehow I don't think sales would be that good at that price, particularly if Britains and UH don't follow suit. So it looks like a case of waiting and seeing what happens both in the UK and Europe. fastrac Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 how much zinc is in a model.its the usual pre christmas rip off. switch to other makes til january and watch them drop back down Quote
SMurF Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Britains and UH won't go up much in price as all of the raw materials are going to china and that's why germany has to pay more for it ;) :D Might be true \ \ \ Quote
Fendt Fahrer Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 they better increase the detail before a price increase!!! Quote
Lord Ferguson Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 As Siku have a greater content of metal and durability, they are being hit by input costs... This is how Zinc is rising.. That graph shows it on a decline now Steve \ - and "failry" static for some time... give or take the odd "blip" \ Quote
Lord Ferguson Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Out of interest... here's a "cash buyers" graph since Jan 1 2006 to date... \ Source - London Metal Exchange Quote
